You make some good points, Old Man Rock.

I'm not sure if Yao's problem stems from JVG but there is one question I keep asking in my head about the situation. It seems EVERY NBA commentator and analisist, especially in the national media, all seem to know what Yao's strengths and weaknesses are and how best to utilize him. Even last night, I question Tim Legler's opinion at times, but he was making pretty valid points about Yao and what to do to make him extremely effective on both end of the court. So, if everyone and thier momma knows how to utilize Yao, than why doesn't JVG?

Bottomline: I think JVG is a good coach but, as Yao keeps looking more and more lost, than JVG's job should be in serious jeapardy. I've never seen Yao look so confused as he has this season at times. Is this attributed to JVG? I'm not completely sure but Yao went from the a rare commoditty of size, skill, finess and shooting to what at times looks like another Shawn Bradley in only the span of a season.

Uh - actually, Gollum started out with the ring. Then Bilbo took it off of him, gave it to Frodo, etc. And he did manage to get it back
ultimately, but he never was able to enjoy it and it killed him.

The analogy just doesn't stand up to analysis.

Plus, gollum has more hair than Gundy...

The latter half of Yao's rookie year, he played some of his worst basketball as a pro. And that was before Larry Smith.. and Rudy was still there rewarding him with little star-stickers on the chalkboard.

:) That was because of fatigue.

Fatigue or Unhappy -> No fire

Gundy partially solved the fatigue problem this summer.

It's so sad watching how happy Yao was during his first two years, with Francis... :(

I wonder if Yao will throw an alley-oop to T-Mac in the All-Star game like he did to Francis last season.

Well, Yao probably doesn't like many of the fans in Houston who don't actually attend any home games to support the team, and spend all their time badmouthing their players. No wonder Yao's not having fun on the court and was glad the Rockets lost to the Suns. Current rumor says he's thinking about packing up and leaving to go to some other city to play. I mean, the only reason Yao wanted to stay in Houston is because he thought it was a city in which he could avoid all the big city style recriminations everytime an athlete forgot to wipe. He probably realizes he was wrong. I bet you the moment people start booing Yao (the 5 people that actually go to games that is), Yao will be outta here.

Who says yao don't like rudy, yao often said he consider rudy as his father, steve is his best buddy and visited yao in off season in china, Cat and cato are always yao's good the teammate, recently they all received yao's christmas presents worth more than 20k watchs, Yao always consider JVG as the best basketball instructer, public defend him several times, as far as Tmac, he is turly unlovable person, stop make thing up.

The American way is to leave your job if you are not happy. Most everyone is an employee and it is your right to leave. This is not a Communist country where you have to slave away where you don't to be. I believe most people in the United States change jobs around 4-6 times in their lifetime.

Yes can you can leave your job if you want. The opportunity for job changing has been magnified more by a system called Tricklenomics. Tricklenomics is an economic system in the United States where there is no significant barrier to the accumulation of wealth by individuals. Trickle Down Economics (TDE). From the old story that "if the horse has better hay to eat, the birds will eat better" (it being understood that birds eat manure). Reaganomics (to imply one example). If the rich do well, benefits will "trickle down" to the rest. Lower taxes on high income or capital gains will benefit most of the population, etc. Thus more jobs allow for more opportunities to leave your employer. But in the end your still leaving one pile of manure for another.

So yes I agree with you! we should FIRE JEFF VAN GUNDY before he stinks up or pile of manure anymore.

Go back and read some of the stupid threads when Rudy was coaching. Some even said Rudy didn't like Yao and that's why he didn't start him at first. It's all bs and that was my point.

    I didn't say he didn't like them

I just think Yao would be playing much better and everyone would be happy with his progress if he had a Kelvin Cato at PF. Before anyone starts throwing out craps like a great player wouldn't need another player to make him better, Yao is not a great player yet. That's why he needs an enforcer who can do the dirty works at the PF.

Yao rookie year= Exciting, passing, athletic 7'6 center with a consistent jumpshot, had low, high post plays and sometimes on top of the key, having fun.

Yao now= Slow, boring, terrible passing, deprived of any athleticism, muscled up, utilized only in the low post or as a set pick, sometimes seen setting screens for some reason, fun replaced with frustration.

I'd say it's a pretty damn different player from his rookie season, I can't believe people continue to deny this.

But, like my other Yao related posts, this'll probably get ignored aswell.
