Actually an ocean to another ocean is quite a long distance. Can't throw a basketball that far. Now if you're talking about 3ptFG%, Lin is actually higher than Dragic this season, if just by a hair. Would be a bit more gap if Lin didn't stand with his foot on the edge of the ocean and threw the ball into the other ocean leading to those shots being counted as long 2s.
Depends on where he is in the ocean. He could be near another ocean if he's on the edge of the ocean he's in.
Lin's advantage over Dragic is that he is infinitely more coachable. Lin doesn't just get assists and score points, he also runs the offense. This team struggles mightily when opposing defenses are able to clamp down on Lin. Miami got us into a hole by focusing on Lin - not Harden. They know that taking Lin out of the game hurts us because Lin isn't always just driving to score or get an assist. He drives to cause the defense to rotate and often our score comes 2 or 3 passes later. That doesn't show up in the box score. Maybe Dragic could do the same thing here, but I seem to recall him being a bit harder to coach.
Dragic can choke on his player option. all this talk about how his heart was in Houston, and then he returns to a team that traded him for a weakened Aaron brooks ALONG witha first rounder.
Lin is better at driving to the basket, and Dragic is a more consistent outside shooter. This year's stats also very similar. I like them both and I think they both are pretty much in the same class. We will see which team got their money's worth 2 years from now. No point arguing who is better just half a season into their respective contract.
I don't think either would be the long term answer at PG. PF is obviously the first position we need to upgrade but PG is next after that. I don't mind Lin as a backup but he's not a starter if your team is going to be a contender
I always thought Miami was extra motivated in stopping Lin like when they killed Linsanity. They are jealous of the attention he gets and wants to show him up for not even being that good.
Why can't people just be happy for all 3 PGs Lowry - gets to play with his best friend and 3 up and coming players(Derozan,Ross,Val) Dragic- plays with Scola and Gortat and the team will get 2 top 10 picks(1 will be Shabazz other is the Laker pick) Lin- Plays in the best backcourt in the game and will probable get Howard next year to make a title run
I don't think you need a superstar PG to win it all. When was the last time a team with a superstar PG actually won it all? (60 year old Jason Kidd does not count). Lin can be a starter on a championship team as can Gogi imo. Just need good pieces around them. I think the last time a team built around a stud PG won a title was Isiah Thomas' Pistons (though Tony Parker and Chauncey Billups were pretty good as well and Rajon Rondo went onto become a star but was not the year they won it all)
The whole lin isn't athletic to disrupt elite pgs is such a farse in terms of logic. For example... lin's bff, curry, could not keep up with lin's first step. Neither have defensive stoppers that other coaches have tried on him, like A.I or tony allen. The Best way to get lin off his game is to double and trap. As to lin covering elite pgs, no one can stop them. they're going to get theirs no matter what, even if they shoot 25 shots at a 39% clip. that's where team d comes into play. Some fans and our coaching staff freak out because lin is headed for a 15 point game with 7 assists, while his matchup a shooting guard that masquerades as an elite pg, such as westbrick, is headed for his typical 25 point game on 10/25 shooting. the only thing i miss about gogi is his accent and the behind the back layup, but that has been nicely replaced with lin's no look pass which is equally beautiful.
I agree. That said, you have to look at the components of the team going forward. Harden is obviously a superstar and Asik is a defensive anchor with limited offensive skills. That's fine as long as we add a really good PF to compliment him. I want a PG who can hit an open jumper. Lin can't do that and Dragic has stuggled this year. We know the Heat and Thunder are going to be championship contenders for the forseeable future and I think the Pacers will as well. We'll need a better PG then Lin or Dragic to beat those teams.
Yes Mr Clutch I remember me & you having this exact conversation in the beginning of the season & we were both right. Lin is so much better than Dragic already it isn't even funny. Dragic isn't even second tier though he is below average. Also in the Clippers game CP3 couldn't stay in front of him. They had to double or trap Lin. Few people can stay in front of Lin's first step. I think Miami is well over that.
Dragic even has teammates frustrated with his decision making. Lin makes bad decisions too, but they are often tough passes that would end up as baskets for teammates. Dragic doesn't see the floor well. The only thing you could have pointed to is shooting, but Dragic is shooting poorly too.
