This just reminded me. When I was in like the 7th grade, I'd always copy the dribble he does where he skips. I don't know how to describe it but it was cool.

Matt Maloney, master ballhandler extraordinaire! ;)

Why are people whining about Maloney's contract, the Rockets were the ones that had to pay it not you. It's stupid to say he should give the money back, especially since you wouldn't have given the money back. Maloney had a solid season and a pretty good playoff run, save for the Jazz series. The guy worked his @ss off, how can you call him a money sucking leech? At least he tried. He wasn't good enough but he tried. A money sucking leech would be someone who signs a contract and then doesn't give a damn.

Payback for what? You would have thought the guy was the worst human being on the planet.

Good points about Rudy, but we were so in need of a point guard at the time, I guess it seemed like a cheap solution to Rockets Mgt. Maloney cost us no more than the failed Glen Rice Experiment. 2 years plus at 9.4 mil per year. Rudy di not sign Spoon or Charlie Ward.....

The hair stand up on the back of my neck thinking about maloney guarding Stephon Marbury or Gary Payton.

We traded Sam Cassell and Horry for Barkley.........and have hurt at the point guard position ever since.

You're right, nobody should knock him for taking the money, but don't defend his play please. He didn't deserve that money and he didn't live up to it. He's no different from Moochie.

Rudy signed Moochie, who was traded for Spoon.

Impressed that he's got into Wharton or impressed that he made it to the NBA?

His play never justified such a big contract in the first place...it was a really dumb move on the Rockets part.

But give it to the guy....I mean, his father died and he was a kid living out a fantasy....he probably never thought he'd make it to the NBA, much less be the starting point guard in the Western Conference Finals. A couple of wins and he'd be playing against the Bulls. Look at it from his perspective, and man, you really got to love the story.

uhhh, no ****. any story that ends with me making 18 million dollars will look good from my perspective. any story where i make about 14 of those 18 million for doing nothing would be epicly good.

I saw Matt Maloney at AMC theaters the very night we lost the series to the Jazz. In fact it was barely 2 hrs after the game.

Also it was premiere night for "He Got Game"

    ...true story.

This is such a true statement.

The thing about the Maloney contract is that it was really the start of Rudy T's downfall. Its almost a mythical event. 7 years. That's really unheard of, even before the Lock Out and rebargined CBA. The money Rudy handed out wasn't as bad as the length of the contracts.
