-------------------------------------------------------------------- after the 1st game of the Portland series, people just went nuts at AB's stat sheet and began to worship the guy without even knowing under what kind of game situation those AB points were scored. I agree with the OP's opinion though, with the limitations Yao has, the best role of Yao for any team if not only the rox is to have him come out as the second tier star, you dont have to "build" your team around Yao, you just go through him on the offensive end whenever he is on the court. find a legit PG who could make him some decent entry passes, and get a backup center who could play some defense when Yao is rested, this team will be just fine. with all above being said, this serie isnt over yet, we are down by 1 now, we just got to continue our fighting and win the next games ... go rox!!!
ha.. give one player whose quickness Yao could "keep up with".. NONE.. Yao makes Gasol look like michael johnson, and it's embarrassing..
oh yes, then please trade yao for a C who can play for 40 mins. I'm tired of this kinda thread after our failure.
Calm down ppl. He's tweaked something. Hopefully won't be too serious but even if he 100% for sunday Artest's f-2 is still the main concern. "Yao, who had 19 points and 14 rebounds, did not leave the game until the final minute, but was favoring the left foot that had kept him out of a practice before the series began. “I remember it hurting in the second quarter, third quarter and fourth quarter, one for each quarter,” Yao said. “There’s different twists, one for each time.” Though the condition is not considered serious (he is undergoing a precautionary CT scan today), Yao’s health is far from the Rockets’ only concern"
120% agree with you. I always saying rocket should trade YAO to build a champaign team. Let's got a man like kobe and another like young shaq in this summer then champaign is us.
This is exactly right. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Yao is awesome, but he is not the best player on a championship team. Too many glaring deficiencies with him.
* Yao is good but not Hakeem good so let's stop with that. * The Rockets need a backup center, we all agree. * Yao has to be able to play 33-35 minutes per game in the playoffs, all stars play that much or more, saying Adelman plays him too much is silly. He's our star player. * The Rockets are not going to trade Yao. Period. He is a cash cow due to all the Chinese deals the Rockets get due to Yao. In terms of money, he is up there with Kobe, Lebron, etc. in bottom line dollar value to a team. This is a business first. * The Rockets won't win a title without another All-Star level perimeter scorer who can create shots off the dribble. That was the whole point of having McGrady. Just because that didn't work out doesn't mean it's not the right blueprint. We need another McGrady type player. We add that and Yao won't get fronted (creates an open lane), won't get doubled (hard to double when teams have two scoring stars), won't have to play as many minutes, etc.
Yao isn't winning by himself. He's not even averaging 20 points a game in the playoffs. How the hell is that winning by himself? Hell, Ron Artest is outscoring Yao in the playoffs. Yao is a max salary player but he's not a max salary performer. That's the problem. When it comes to Yao you have zero ability to be objective.
Embarrassing? You're an embarrassment to Clutchfans. Yao gives it his all every single game of the season. People like you just sit on your asses and type trash every time he has a bad game. Mind you, he was playing in extreme pain by the end of the game and he still put up solid numbers.
Yao was so tired, I just saw he was rushing from one side to another side because of many turnovers. So I think we should trade for a better PG.
