did you seriously ask that question? he played superb in game 1 v. portland. he played superb in game 1 v. LA he's averaging 15.5ppg, 44%fg, 40% 3s, 4apg a game. what else do u want from a 2nd year player? this is his FIRST playoffs where he's the starter. and teams, with phil jackson actually, are actually game planning for the dude ALREADY. kenny smith's career playoffs stats are 11.5ppg, 46%fg, 44%3s, 4.5apg really? what has AB done? some of y'all just looking for someone to hate. he's a role player. AB has done more than what is asked of him. u want him to be rafer?
Get any capable guard who knows how to control the game and play, such as Deron, CP, Nash, Kidd, Parker, or Roy, we will be the champion. Yao is not built as a rebounding machine running back and forth on the floor, that is not his strength. If you need front line help, why not give Hayes more minutes? He did a good job on Gasol. Need someone who can shoot three? you don't pay Barry to sit on bench. Barry's D won't be worse than AB's. Rick doesn't know how to utilize Yao. He just want someone like Brad Miller, and plays Yao like Brad Miller. Then why not trade to Chicago for Miller and Gordon or whoever. Both sides will be happy.
2 Games..Nice job Aaron, too bad Kenny played pretty consistent throughout the playoffs. Not to mention Kenny actually played like a PG, while Aaron doesn't and probably never will.
This. Yao's the only Center on the team. And at 7'6 he's called on to play 40 minutes. If we had a backup Center, Yao'd be better built for the postseason. Every Rocket Center is 6'9 or less...no way we can go up against the big teams.
uhh... kenny nor sam weren't true PGs. it's not hard for dream to dominate. he was just that good. their roles were just to make their shots primarily. look at the stats i posted. dream was just THAT good. like i said, aaron brooks has played above my wildest expectations. he's scoring more, shooting much better than the reg. season v. teams who are aiming to shut him down. he's going to get better and he will get better.
Can you explain why Kenny had 5+ APG in most of his seasons as a Rocket? Especially when he had a 7 APG season as well. Aaron couldn't even dream of doing that. Now Sam, I can agree was not a true point guard, but at least he knew how to pass the ball to a guy like Hakeem. Nobody is comparing Yao to Hakeem, because that's a dumb unrealistic comparison.
news flash. AB is not a true PG. He can't distribute, can't play D, dribbles and turns the ball over. 6th man bobby jackson style. aren't u embarrased by your moniker? the mofo quit on the city, fans, team, and basically a billion people in china. NO HEART. orlando?
I agree that you can't build a team around the post in today's NBA. The rules have made it a perimeter game. The Rockets have two undersized and very immature guards. Hello, is anybody home? Everytime our genius owner has said, "we are going to continue to build around TMac and Yao," I think, what a dufus. The temperament and health issues of our two max players is simply not conducive to a deep playoff run. Our role players have a great deal more heart than they have talent. They are undersized and aren't particularly athletic. The Rockets do have a load of heart, and when they play way, way over their heads they can beat most teams. At least we made it out of the first round and scared the poop out of the Lakers for a few quarters.
cuz he played with hakeem? a top 5 player of all time? i would imagine that would help if u want to pull up stats: hakeem averaged just as much, if not more, more assists than kenny during the championship years again, playing with hakeem makes it that much easier. u can give him the ball from 20 ft and he can operate from there. with yao, not so much.
That does not even take account of all the open looks he gave the Rockets 3 point shooters. Seriously, I am not exaggerating. The only other offensive play for Rockets, other than dumping it into Hakeem and letting him create for 45 minutes a game was 3+ minutes of Kenny Smith and Otis Thorpe pick and roll play when Hakeem was getting a rest. Mind you, he even did this against a thug Knicks team too in the Finals, which make today's Jazz team look like exactly that....a Jazz team at a local bar. In my years of watching basketball, I have never seen anyone win a championship while carrying that much load all by himself.
if you ask any of kenny, sammy, max, horry, and clyde if ab is worthy to tie the shoe laces for them, none would say yes. since when ab played "superb"? do you even know the meaning of that word?
We are just bad luck. When we had TMac and Yao healthy, we only got an old, tired, and injured Wesley, and we couldn't even have Juwan Howard in playoffs. When healthy TMac and Yao gave another try, we had Bogans. Then Yao was out, and half Rafer, when we finally got some talent. We got great bench, plus a 2nd year Scola and Ron this year, Yao is healthy, then Tmac was out. Even Deke is out. It's just sad. But we need something, a legit backup C, a wing scorer, a different kind of PG even just playing backup minutes, and a game free Summer for Yao.
In the championship playoff years, Hakeem averaged 4 low 4 APG. Kenny averaged nearly 5 APG. You are wrong. Yao is not Hakeem obviously. So stop making that assumption just like T-Mac is not a normal human with a heart.
Kenny wasnt a playmaker. His job was to shoot open 3s. He would get some assists on pick and roll play but others because Hakeem created the open look. Hakeem would create the open look and pass to the open guy. The open guy could either shoot or pass to the next open man if the defense rotated. In that case the next open guy would take the shot and first guy gets the assist. Hakeem did not get assist for that play but he did create the offense.
he's probably still dreaming about a TMAC comeback in 09-10 that guy is fraud. kobe is fraud, but at least he can throw down.
