Hello Chicken Little. Even though the losses to the Celtics and the Raps are frustrating, you have to keep an eye on the bigger picture. These guys have hung in there without Yao in a way no one could have predicted. Yao will be back soon and will get in game shape a week or two after his return. We will know what we have then. Let's keep the panicking to a minimum until then.
That's just a good sentence. It's flexible enough that you could derive many many meanings from it. It's almost like a State of the Union address.
Per ElPigto: " The Rockets have been playing great ball the last couple of months, heck the whole year. I know we lose at times, but I mean we aren't a perfect team. We have obvious holes, but thankfully we been able to cover them enough which is why we have a winning record. I don't post here much, but I love this place. Many people filled with knowledge and excited about the team I love. It just gets sort of sickening reading all the negative crap. I understand that Rafer isn't Nash. I understand JVG isn't like Avery Johnson. Many of yall though refuse to move on, and instaed keep on whining even though there isn't a damn thing you can do about the team we have right now. Accept the following facts: -We are a team filled with veterans as our primary role players. -Deke will give us what he can. -JVG is not going to change his rotation patters to satisfy the posters at the BBS. -Rafer is going to continue playing major minutes. -V-Span is not going to get off the bench, accept it. -Our primary role players are not athletic therefore it's only natural we look like crap against teams with so much young talent. -We will win some and we will lose some, what matters is the playoffs. I'm optimistic about the playoffs. I'll be content if we get out of the first round. It's been 10 years since we last saw a Rockets team advance past the first round. I'm excited about this team because they've shown us what they can do. JVG is an excellent coach. He might be stubborn at times with his rotations, but it's worked for most of the season, I don't see why losing should change his game plan every game. I know many of us have been a Rockets fan for a really long time. It's time you sit back and enjoy the team you have now. It's been a while since we've had awesome spacing and a team that can run a pretty good fast break. It's been a while since our team has looked so good. Think about the teams the Rockets have had these past ten years and the one we have now. It's amazing how many changes we've made, but we finally have a decent team that can possible contend for a championship. We can't win every games guys, so just relax. I know many are frustrated by JVG's sub patters and for the Rockets not making a move at the trading deadline, but we are still winning, although we're in a defensive slump right now, but the bottomline is, we are still a great team." Yeah you are so right. I love my team there is no doubting that. I drove from Beaumont last nite-attended the game and returned home in fog. I begged my Rocket season ticket holder rep to let me upgrade my playoff tickets when they start sending out the forms Mar. 6. I think we needed the wins against ATL , NOK, Boston at home. We face Denver -in Denver Fri. and return home Sat to play SA Spurs... Where we end up seeded will be affected by losing to teams we should beat...
Isn't this the point? If we're great against every team BUT teams with athletic young talent, then what are we good for? The Mavericks and Suns are exactly the type of team that you're talking about; young and athletic. So our performance against 'young talent' DIRECTLY correlates with our performance in the playoffs. Speed killed us in the 04-05 playoffs, and indications are that teams are figuring out the 06-07 rockets suffer the same malaise. I love the rockets but the gameplan to beat us is simple: 1. Insert players for speed, including shooting 4's that our team has always struggled to guard because we've never addressed our power forward situation and apparently the only guy who can guard them is t-mac. 2. double t-mac before the ball and force other players to beat you. like everyone says, maybe yao's return will solve this problem, but its not like tmac is going to be able to make a b-line pass to a wide open yao. 3. full-court pressure and inbounds pressure. every time teams have done this to us, our team cracks. we almost always end up having to waste timeouts and usually turn it over once or twice (especially if head's doing point duties) before realizing we're being pressured. it sickens me. 4. along the lines of #3: when luther head touches the ball, pressure him and watch the good times roll. i think head should be on the court because he is our best shooter, but he should NEVER EVER EVER be playing point. i seriously think kirk, bonzi, or even juwan howard would be better points. even if his dribbling improves, his court vision is horrible and his passes are spaztacular. ultimately, i have accepted a lot of things. like vspan is never going to play unless everyone in front of him is injured. we're probably never going to see snyder play meaningful minutes. but i won't accept 'we're old so of course we're going to get beat by young, athletic teams.' every team has that. the best teams definitely have that, and they know the rockets can't beat it. so until we figure out how to play against it and win, i think people have a right to complain.
The playoffs are a wildcard for only one reason. It's a 7 game series. That is, there is time to make radical adjustments. So there is a glimmer of hope, but people here make a glimmer to be too much. I guess it really doesn't matter if you think the Rockets are going to win it all or if they don't have enough. Nothing we think matters at the end of the day. We will all watch and see and find reasons for success or failure. If we win, I'll say it was just out of sheer will and amazing coaching. Others will say its because see - we had the right team all along. I guess everyone is right in that scenario. If we lose, some will say it was JVG's fault. I'll say it was the role-players, others will say something else - but it's still all the same, same result, different reasons. But I agree with you here. The signs of trouble - of even a first round exit - are forming. Teams are figuring out that monster weakness at the point. Attack the point - and you can beat the Rockets.
If Durant is obtainalbe?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Sounds like the ESPN comercial where the guys are talking sports out of thier @$$es.
You're the first person every to say that losing helps. No one will say we are better off without Yao. But it's time to start VSPAN. God man, you can't get worse the rafer
Kevin Durant is super human, we could never get him but if we did, we would be unstoppable. The guy reminds me of Tracy except his back is all jacked up, I got to see him live last night, and he put up some numbers against the aggies.
EDIT* Kevin Durant is super human, we could never get him but if we did, we would be unstoppable. The guy reminds me of Tracy except his back is not all jacked up, I got to see him live last night, and he put up some numbers against the aggies.
You do know that's what lottery teams do right? I don't see Utah suddenly trading Okur, Williams, Boozer, AK47 for a new gm, new coach, new PF, new C, new PG, new SG, new SF. Just in two games and you return, spewing rubbish out of your mouth that the Rockets should change everything.
JFC. Sounds like you would be better off rooting for a different team. You want to replace Tracy too? Are you kidding me?
Why don't they try just playing him first. Its like saying, "Wow that was a great first date. Let's get married!"
Look, it doesn't take a genius to realize you aren't going to win the race driving a pinto. I don't know where VSPAN rates, but you might as well roll the dice. VSPAN has potential to be good. Rafer IS a disaster.
