That was really a great deal. Thank you for Smoking and Sideways are worth $17 bucks for the pair, easily.
If its good enough for Costco, its good enough for me. I love their return policy. Too bad a bunch fools had to take advantage of it and treated it as a free upgrade policy and screwed the rest of us honest people. Now it doesn't apply to electronics anymore. Where else can you buy something, use it to death, and return it with no questions asked. I buy everything there. They tried to sell me the executive membership because I spent 6 grand there last year. Crazy.
I was looking for a tv for my mom & dad about a week or two ago and tried to get something from Costco. The only Costco anywhere near him was somewhere around I-10 or something I think - they're in SW Houston. Are they just not common in Houston? I ended up doing the research and telling my dad to get a 40" Samsung from Best Buy because he hates driving "long distances".
I've been won over to Costco over Sam's. Its Costco's corporate plan to match whatever Sam's carries with an upgraded version of that product for about the same price.
hey DD, i also have a tv from Sams with a extended warranty till feb of 08. just in the past few weeks it has developed a slight buzz in the audio, its not too noticeable but its driving me nuts, my question is, that when you returned the tv, did they check it for the problem or did they take your word for it and give you the credit for a new tv?
Apparently you never took my posts seriously about Costco. They used to have an unlimited return policy on everything except computers. I bought my TV and 360 from there before the change, and fortunately, I am under warranty for life. Even after the change, though, it's still the best policy out there. Just read the back of the receipt. I think you now have 6 months to return electronics.
So if you bought a tv before the policy change you are still covered for life? I bought one before but I thought they changed the policy regardless of when you bought it. But not all electronics have changed regarding the lifetime warranty structure. For example you can still buy a router, and return it whenever. It is just computers, laptops, cameras, mp3 players, and tv's I believe that the new policy is about. I'm pretty sure your 360 is covered under lifetime warranty even if you bought it today.
Buffalo Jerky...two medium bags $7 Tuna...Bag of 10, 4-6 oz ind. wrapped frozen ahi tuna steaks...$17 Shrimp...many sizes available. I usually get the cooked tail-on 21/25 (gi-freaking-normous) or 26/30 (extra large) per lb for shrimp cocktails at the hizzyouse...2 lb bag is in the $15-18 range I go to the Costco on I-10 at Bunker Hill. They have pretty damn good meat also, especially lamb. Make room in your freezer!
I'm not sure which Costco you are referring to, but for me, the closest one is Katy Frwy in Houston (I basically live in Friendswood, so I don't get there that often). Costco certainly does NOT have the selection that Spec's has, but with Spec's you really need to know and trust someone to point you to good wines at a good price. (unless it's your job to taste dozens of different wines every single day, you can't possibly keep up with 1000's of new wines that arrive with every vintage). I still go to Spec's, and there are guys there that I trust to point me in the right direction, but with Costco--even though they may have only 15% of the wines that Spec's does--I know when I go in there, I'm going to find many highly rated wines at really good prices. Costco's buyer doesn't just stock the shelves with anything and everything. Yes, they stock the big movers, but they spend a lot of time searching out the best wines from a given vintage, and they sell them at the best prices possible. I realize that is somewhat of a one-size-fits-all approach, and I further realize that buying the bulk of my wine solely because it has a high rating means I'll miss out on some good unrated wines........but I have other places to go for that. Generally, I can say with confidence that if Wine Spectator gives a wine a score of 90 or better, I'm going to like it. When they first came to Houston, my opinion was "big deal!" I have Sam's..........but they've won me over too. That's why I drive so damn far just to shop there.
Pole, you have convinced me. I need to go spend time checking out their wine selection next time I am in there. I've only just glanced at it while loading beer onto my cart.
I don't think you should be allowed to shop there if you can't spell the name. And, yes, Costco is way better than Sam's.
I am in Austin, so I think it sounds like you got an amazing buyer there, here not so much. Which is not a big deal as our buyer at the new HEB/Central Market is amazing and as I said earlier the Oak Hill Liquor store has the best guy I have ever seen. We have a lot of wine in this house as my wife and I just got back from a 4 day tour though the Texas wine country, there are some EXCELLENT wineries in the hill country area. DD
