Seriously, this is a Rockets board, but it´s also a basketball board. I find hard not to appreciate what the Spurs are doing so far this season, saying hello to the league after their last injury plagged season. I think they are a team that does very good for those basketball (and not only NBA Jam) fans in the league. They play as a team, win or loose as a team, and most importantly they always set an example of good teamwork and overall organization. They transitioned from the most defensive oriented team in the league to the second best scoring team, and the 5th fastest peace. Most importantly, Tim Duncan is the impersonation of the example a boy should have in terms of leading a team, taking not the back seat but the trunk because the team demands him to do it. Ginobili shows a a fire in his game that only Scola may have on the Rockets. And as a team they are no dumbs, everyone know their strenghts but most important they know their teammates´s too, knowing when and who to go on almost every situation. Their roles are clearer, without watching a Spur game i would be right 9 out of 10 times saying that Parker and Jefferson carried them the first 2 quarters, Duncan sustained the third, and Ginobili executed down the stretch. This should be noticed not only by us fans but coaches and managers too, and not to do so would be ignoring how you may make your team better and sustain a pretty impressive level of efficiency throuout a decade with no lottery picks. (Duncan in `97 was their last)
I thought the Spurs made a huge mistake in the off-season giving Jefferson that big contract with TD and Ginobili. But, I have to eat my words. Jefferson is back, the Spurs aren't done yet. It looks like they'll make some noise in the west this year and if the Rockets don't make it to the playoffs this year, I'm rooting for the Spurs. Hopefully we turn it around. But if I have to choose between the Lakers, Heat, Celtics, Magic, and Spurs, there's really no question there. Plus, I'd love for Kobe to have to share the spotlight with TD as the dominant players of the era.
WTF???? WTF is wrong with some of y'all-OP and others? Yeah it's a basketball board but seriously? You might as well come up with an I love the Mavs, or an I love the Jazz thread. I don't give a flying f&^k if the Spurs had 5 players injured and were on a 10 game unbeaten streak, F%#K the Spurs, F&$K the Mavs and F@^K the Jazz. I dislike all three with every fiber in me as I am a Rockets fan and they are our main rivals. Yeah I may like the way one or two of those teams play but I think i'd rather keep that ish to myself. No way in heck would I ever start a thread praising their play. WTF is that??? F&^K the Spurs and their fans. and wack azz Rockets fans posting lovethreads about the bloody Spurs.
Let's get real here. The Spurs are a good team; yes. But there is no way they are beating the Lakers with their crappy Centers and Power Forwards. And yes, that includes the role player that is named Tim Duncan. Lakers will run them off the court. The Spurs strongest point on the court is on the perimeter and the Lakers have arguably the best perimeter defense (Kobe/Artest/Barnes). The Lakers strongest area is their paint (Gasol is the best offensive Center in the NBA, Lamar Odom is the best defensive power forward in the NBA). They will pound the hell out of the Spurs frontline.
Lamar Odom would be like a kid in a candy shop against the Spurs' frontline. "I'm lookin' at you, Timmy D." Queensbridge in the building.
at least they dont have one of the dirtiest players ever anymore in Bruce Bowen.. oh .. and F^CK the Spurs
I've hated Timmy since their twin towers era. For some reason I just can't force myself to see him being the "good guy" that everyone else does. I've wished for Bowen to kick TD in the face and TD falling on Bowen's knee for such a long time. Both of them canceling each other out would be a great success. Too bad Bowen retired.
Only soft ass rockets fans could come with a thread like this. Do you think the spurs fans would post a loving thread like this if it was the other way around ? ... for those Houstonians who have never been to san Antonio , THEY #&@%ING HATE US OVER THERE ,, they would never say anything nice about the rockets, texans, astros or Houston in general. Have some effin pride and don't go kissing some other city's ass . Yes the rockets suck, the texans suck more and the astros blow but at least we have these effin teams to follow either in good or bad times .. that being said : @#$% THE SPURS , FAT ANTONIO , DALLAS AND IT'S TEAMS AND UTAH JAZZ...
Yea me and some of my buds went to San Antonio for the last rockets game there. When you walk around that city wearing a rockets jersey people stare at you like you are a ghost or something, San Antonio hates us and we hate them. NO PROPS TO THE SPURS
