To use a Tombstone quote regarding T_J A man like T_J has got a great big hole, right in the middle of himself. And he can never argue enough, or insult enough, or cause enough irritation to fill it up. And so he walks the earth, forever seeking retribution...
Amen to that...Seriously T_J....the only posts I ever see you make are trying to start an argument or to disagree with someone...don't you think that act is a bit played out? Time to put the good ol' ignore list to good use. As for the subject at hand...this is also my favorite time of year. Hopefully the weather will start to cool down soon so it will really feel like the holiday season. I used to love jumping in the back of the Suburban when I was a kid and having my parents drive us around to look at lights.
I think Trader_Jorge needs a friend other than the one's that he has already created. Maybe we should reach out to him this holiday season...
esp in places like Virginia, where the snows just a striptease... never takes it all off, nor does it keep it all on
Oh man. I love Christmas time. The holiday season rocks! I love it because when the time rolls around, I get to pack up my stuff, get on a plane and leave everything behind. I fly off to Saudi on the 22nd of December, I love leaving everything here behind....all the stress etc. I know, going to saudi would seem to be stressful because of all the attacks there lately, but 15yrs of living there makes it my "Home Away from Home". 'Tis the season...Dang I can't wait!
bamaslammer is right. This isn't worth arguing. But, if you are interested in looking it up, most theologians believe based on the approximate birth date of John the Baptist and several verses in the New Testament referring to the birth of Christ, he was most likely CONCEIVED in December and born late August or early September. So, enjoy. I did listen to some Vince Guraldi today along with some George Winston (Winter Solstice). Ahhhhh.
I learned in my Money and Banking class that American consumers spend 25% of their money in the month preceding Christmas. If Christmas were not there we would have a greatly diminished aggragate demand. It is hypothesized by my professor that it is the spending inspired by our many capitalistic holidays that seperates the economy of this nation with that of others. We have not only Christmas, but Valentines where we buy useless things for women like Chocolate and flowers, and we have the Fourth of July where Billions are spent on fireworks, and we have thanksgiving where billions is spent on getting fat, not to mention the numerous other spending incentives we have. Most other nations Holidays are about exactly what TJ was talking about, and without the spending incentives, none have the thriving economy that we do. Something to ponder.
I never thought about holidays like that, but I guess you do have a point. It's amazing how far in debt people go into buying gifts for folks. So I guess our economy is in many ways built on foolishness. Fascinating.
Living 1600 miles from the nearest relatives, we have to get our Christmas shopping done early to get it in the mail. Geez, lets see... 12 nieces and nephews 2 sets of parents 4 sets of inlaws tons of friends and a partridge in a pair tree bamma, Jeff and Max if you guys love the Vince Guraldi CD, you should check out Cyrus Chestnut and Friends! It's a reworking of the Guraldi CD and it's amazing!
I love this time of year. Hopefully we will have snow on the ground on Turkey day which makes it even better. We normally go cut our tree the day before Thanksgiving and decorate after we eat. It`s a great time of year and I cant wait to get started. IMO the best Xmas movie is "It`s a Wonderful Life" followed very closely by "A Xmas Story"
Great time of year...although I can do without the chill. But, love the warmth in the faces I see. RR
