I find the fact that you're a parent tragic.

 

You have strongly supported, time and again, the killing of actual children, ones with school friends and loving relationships with their parents, ones with cognizance and hopes and dreams for the future, just as you have strongly supported the orphaning of those children by killing their parents. And then, after having supported the destruction of innocent families, you have accused those same families of "hating our freedom" when they were angry we killed their close kin. According to this article, from 1999 voluntary reports, 45% of the women who had abortions were having their second, third or fourth abortions.

This data was voluntarily reported to the CDC which means "under-reported" in all likelihood.

At the drop of a freaking hat. Abortion only stays legal with a preponderance of female support: as liberal male voters and politicians would abandon it in a minute for a whole laundry list of other issues or policies. Spend any real time in the rural Midwest or just far enough from the city, and you find entire communities, counties, states, whole regions of girls and women who expect to get married and have kids without ever needing or wanting an abortion, and will gladly relinquish that right to reinforce that sense of superiority.

 

No, you played on the stereotype that women are irrational to discredit the author's arguments. It's particularly distasteful because this is a thread concerning the rights of women; your "real world meme" (hah!) promotes misogynistic attitudes that cast a priori suspicion on women seeking control over their reproductive decisions.

 

Until many of those girls and women end up needing those services themselves. The problem--and the reason the author cited in the OP is dead on--is the systematic shaming of women for exercising any kind of power over their own reproductive systems. Women can't express their true sentiments or share their experiences without being called sluts, and so a culture of ignorance is born.

 

Ah, and here comes the good old-fashioned slut shaming!

 

Give me a break. I'm was just "disproving" GR's attempt to assert that if we just helped women to understand their bodies, they wouldn't need to have abortions. These old stats prove otherwise, unless the docs/nurses providing the abortions are not providing the education to prevent future conceptions....

You guys do know that some women do oppose abortion on the basis that they recognize the humanity of the child? You do concede that that is possible to hold that position; do you even allow that POV to be recognized?
