I'm very sorry. I'm fighting back tears just reading your post. I've got two dogs myself (both dachshunds). Anything I have can be replaced, but not them. I can't imagine losing them. When you cry bringing a dog to the vet to get fixed, that's when I'll worry about you. Not that I know anyone who has done that.
Good luck man. I'll say a prayer for you tonight. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out?
Dude, I would certainly participate in some sort of fundraiser. There are a few bands here maybe we can come up with something. My prayers...
I find it telling as to the quality of person that you are by the fact that the one "thing" that is mentioned besides your house is your dog. It's a shame that bad things happen to good people. I hope your dog didn't suffer. One of my neighbors when I was a child had a catastrophic fire on Christmas Eve. It was one of those things that was so strange & that it took me a couple of weeks for it to actually register. I can remember feeling the heat from the house from four or five houses down, and I also remember how vivid and beautiful the fire was in the abstract, while at the same time understanding the horror of the reality when viewed in context. I can only imagine how much of an emotional scar something like that would have had if it happened to me. I hope that you really take the time to deal with the baggage and work through any anxiety or saddness. I will be thinking about you and wishing you well. If you do have anything that you need, let us know. I don't have that much, but if it's something I can spare it would make me feel good to give it to you. Good luck
You don't know how much I appreciate all of the offers for help everyone, but I'll make it all right. I used what little savings I had after depleting it over Christmas to get myself clothes and what-not's and my Uncle and his family have been fantastic. Thanks for all your thoughts. PS TraJ My little "Willy" was a dachshund too. I got him not long after me and my wife divorced, and let me assure you, he listened to a lot of boo-hooing. He always listened lovingly, and somehow always made me feel better just by snuggling up next to me. I hope somehow he didn't suffer, he didn't deserve it.
Any idea about the cause? If it was a faulty appliance or something, you might be able to sue. My house flooded last year from a faulty refridgerator and GE paid all of the restoration costs.
God. We have a miniature red dachshund and if we lost her, we'd be just devastated. Im a financial adviser and if you have any questions, email me. I'd be glad to help.
HTOWNHERO, Thats terrible what happened, but hopefully we can find you some way to help you out. I'm the VicePrez of a North Houston Rotary Club and we often help out families after disasters. There was a family like the one discussed above that lost their home to a fire before Christmas and another club helped them to replace many items. Email me at fdkgf@aol.com and state what happened, and anything we can do to help in terms of items, funds etc., hell maybe even temporary residence!! Good luck and I hope to hear from you.
Friends who have been through fires have told me you can't imagine how emotionally devastating it is. Hang in there. And we've always had a dog as a "family member", so I understand. Best of luck as you climb out........and you will. D R
My prayers are with you. I'm not trying to be all religious, but Job in the bible lost everything he owned but his faith in the Lord and in the end he was blessed. Just some of words of wisdom that may provide some comfort.
That really sucks h-town, from what I saw of you in the chatroom, you seem like a really good guy. You'll be in my prayers.
