when i heard this i went to check outside my windows to see if pigs were flying.

seriously as much as i love charles that guy has always hated on the rockets probably because he tries to hold yao to a shaq-esque standard and he rides t-mac alot. t-mac says he doesnt mind cuz it just makes him better and i dont mind that from charles but hearing this is good but awkward to be honest. i am soo used to having the media dog on us all the time that i wouldnt know what i'd do if i saw us winning and the media loving us. while the extra national exposure is great for out of town fans like me i think i'd get into fights with bandwagonning rockets fans if i met with them at a sports bar.

Seriously guys, it's nice and all to have people giving us 'props', but the truth of the matter is we have have absolutely NO IDEA how this team will play out. Despite the added talent, we have taken a gamble on Stro and DA, and we are hoping they can make us better. IMO, if we play anything like we did in the 2nd part of last season all season long this year, we are going to be in great shape. However, we have to be realistic and understand the real key as to why we played so great last season: CHEMISTRY! I believe we will either progress or regress this upcoming season based entirely on how the new kids buy into the system and how they fit in.

As far as hype is concerned, I would rather do without it, I would rather have every so-called expert calling us 'fakers' and feeding us until we prove 'em wrong. If history has taught us anything, it's that a team 'on paper' means nothing.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but just wanted to give me .02 :)

Yes, but he is also a major liability defensively against top players because of his -point guard height-

He was still our best and most consistent perimeter defender throughout the season. We would have been so much worse without him. Yes, his height was exposed against a dallas team with many tall, strong guards, but we would not have won more than 45 games without Wesley. We might not have even turned the season around and made the playoffs.

Regarding dead weight, what team doesn't have a few guys who are total non-factors? Do you think every team should have 15 guys deserving minutes? Every team has scrubs, but ours have expiring contracts.

yeah right. wesley was BY FAR our best back court defender last year. he's not blocking anyones shots but he keeps people in front of him. i think the main reason he was ineffective in the playoffs and toward the end of the season was because of his injury which he had surgery on. if healthy he's far from a liability.

Charles usually does not back us. Now he does (in a sense). I think he knows we definatly got beter and are a force to be reckoned with, but, we still are not on the Spurs level (as of yet). But like has been noted, Chuck is just on the air to be funny, and I think he does a good job of that. I love it when he just bashes team (except I do get a little prideful about the Rox bash). But I hold nothing he says to a candle (I think thats a saying somewhere).......well, unless Kenny is making him kiss a donkey :D

I recorded the entire Yao draft and whenever I happen to watch it (probably once a year), the one thing that stands out is when CB says "If I had the first pick I would take Caron Butler."

Thank goodness he wasn't our gm....

Charles is not only a straight shooter, he's been there, and he's been close. He's qualified to know who has it and who doesn't. I take it as a very good sign.

I think he also chose the mavs to beat us last year in the playoffs. As much as I have to say it... he was right. As much as us Houston Rockets fans ADORE Yao, heck so do I, he does need his dose of constructive criticism. I do feel however Yao will eventually show Barkley and other non believers wrong but until he does Charles is going to have his way with him. With a little time and a nice supporting cast around Yao, he's going get consistent and those numbers on his stats that Charles seems to sit and look at will rise and he'll be kissing another donkeys but in no time. Whether or not he was dogging us I enjoy his loud mouth and his views on all teams. I do however take it with a grain of salt as should most people. He is only human and is subject to mistakes on his opinions. These are just his "opinions" and prophecies after all and he is not Nostradamus. But until he starts dogging us again, Go Chuckster and keep telling the world how Awesome we are! Let the poor and rich from one ocean's end to another hear the word. BEWARE OF THE ROCKETS!

Yeh, high standard such as "If Yao ever scored more than 18pt in a game, I'd kiss Kenny/Donkey' ass?".

The guy is a jerk, and an idiot. The ONLY purpose for TNT putting him there is to make a fool/fun out of him.

The guy is fun to watch as a commentator. I believe Charles had to kiss that donkey's butt the first season too when people were hyping Yao up as he was going to step in and just dominate. People were proclaiming him as the second best center in the league before he got to put on the uniform and prove it. As a national broadcaster of a channel such as TNT ABC or Espn that isn't really for any specific team, I would have also said BRING IT ON! Before you get all that hype PROVE IT! Charles was proven wrong, ate crow, manned up to it and kissed that Donkey's Butt! I like the Chuckster on TNT. As much as I love Yao as I stated in an earlier post he's gotta bring it on and Charles is definitely telling him to. I wouldn't call him a Jerk or an Iidiot, just a loudmouth who speaks his mind but hey he has every right to.

Charles is awesome. I wouldn't call him a jerk or idiot. He is a very funny and entertaining guy to watch. TNT by far has the best NBA crew (halftime show etc.)out of any channel.

I like Charles, but sometimes it seems he tries too hard to be a goofball or say something funny. Like when he kept saying TMac's legs were skinny like a chicken's. Ernie and Kenny stayed silent, not knowing whether or not to comment. Ernie just changed the subject.
