I agree and I disagree... Yes, Battier can't really create a shot, but at the same time, I did think JVG limited Battier's offensive game last year. Just like how Yao was used under JVG, Yao's offensive game was limited to the low post most of the time. I am not trying to debate if this is a right strategy or not, all I want to say is, Battier has more offensive move just like Yao have more than just post up moves. Battier could do a little post up, hook shots, and maybe some others we haven't see, not just a one dimensional spot up shooter like some suggest.. Yes, for a team that has two superstars in Yao and Tmac, Battier is good enough.. Not to mention, Spurs has a boring style as well, but it bought them many championships...
The only difference is that Parker, Ginobli, and Duncan can take over a game, therefore they can afford to have a Battier type player in Bowen. The Rockets don't have that luxury and that's the problem I have with Battier being the default third scorer.
You're probably absolutely right about the trade, but Battier is not much better than what you see already. Take a look at his years at Memphis. His game is what it is.
pls dont trade battier to anybody, we need his hustle defense and 3 pt shooting. we can get a good forward tru trading our guards..
Well, we had Yao and Tmac if it wasn't the injuries, so Spurs actually just have ONE more scorer than us.. And now, Rox has bought in James and retained Bonzi, so there are the 3rd, 4th scorer for the upcoming season..
yes... he shoots well, plays D on every possession, and hustles like a mad man. he also played every game last season. we all know what Sasha said when he was asked about his defense
Yeah well, if you trade Battier away, who is going to be our Bruce Bowen? Or are you telling me that Sasha Pavlovic is both Manu Ginobilli AND Bruce Bowen combined?
Pavlovic for Battier...LOL I just can't get it....How about Yao and Tracy for Kwame Brown and Luke Walton?
