Wow. You came out of retirement for my post? [IMG] Anyway, I respect all of your opinions, but they won't change mine. I know who was the better team out there, and I know who had the game handed to them. I also know who deserves an asterick. I see all of your points and I know you have valid arguments- it's just no matter what people say, it won't change what I saw. Portland is a better team IMO.

Even greater than the Blazers losing is remembering Quitten saying that this was the best team he had ever played on earlier this season.
I sincerely hope Quitten is traded to LA in the off season, and then watch the Lakers choke next year with him!

The truth is that both teams have yet to become GREAT teams. IMHO both haven't shown how to make consistently good decisions, especially in the CLUTCH.

The truth is also that I hate both teams, just so you know my bias (don't we all?). I also couldn't decide what I wanted to see more, a Pippin choke (I did!) or a Shaq embarrassment.

As for the future, the Lakers are, unfortunately, closer to becoming a great team with a good PF, so the Rox definitely need to get some athletic big men.

asterik hmm actually everyone in the nba besdies rockets fans believes we should have one by our championships. which i think is stupid because even quitten admitted the rocks would have had a good chance of winning and probably won at least one of those years as dominate as hakeem was over the bulls his whole career. but yet i talked to someone the other day and mentioned rocks had winning record against the bulls in the 90s and of course he says uh yeah but they couuln'dt beat the bulls in da playoffs.

weren't the rockets usually a better team in the playoffs then in the regular season come on get real bulls fans only ones with asterik should be the spurs in their short season win

I think if the Lakers win the Championship there should be an Asterik by it. Because Tim Duncan (the Laker Dominator) was out in the Playoffs. They swept them last year and would have done it again this year. So sorry Phil Jackson but there is an Asterik by your Championship...

it was weird... i was rooting for the Lakers to win yesterday. mainly for two reasons, to see Horry win and to see Pippen lose. i got my wish.

but... to say the Lakers didn't deserve the win is rediculous. they were clearly the best team this season, they've had the best record throughout the season and now made it to the finals. with the Rockets winning two championships, it's obvious that the most talented teams aren't always the best teams.

and Dreamshake, why do you hate kobe and call him a 'Michael wanna be'? kobe has never said he wanted to be like michael nor has he ever said he was as good or better than him. in fact, kobe has mentioned numerously that they are both different players with different type of games. it has been the media that has constantly compared the two... so don't hate him because of what the media has already labeled him early in his career.

AM I THE ONLY PERSON GOING FOR THE LAKERS?

I think Shaq deserves his ring, he worked really hard this year and the big daddy is going to get it this year. I feel bad for Rik Smits, he is going to go for a beating.

I don't see how you can put an asterick by the Rockets second title, because Jordan was playing. The first I can see why some people would, but I disagree. Also, to me it isn't justice if the Pacers win. Why? They didn't play the best team in basketball in Portland, and got a weaker LA team. Even if Indiana pulls off the shocker, I still will be very disappointed because I know the best team in the NBA has to go without a ring when they deserve one.

Shaq deserves nothing except for being swept. He knows they weren't the better team.

Don't underestimate Indiana. It was a split series with both teams winning at home.

The key to this series for Indiana is to keep Rice off his game, hope Mark Jackson contributes offensively and that Smits stays out of foul trouble. If they can do these 3 things, they have a chance.

By the way Cat, it doesn't matter now who the better team was....scoreboard LA. Portland, have a nice day.

Portland sux. They had a 15 point lead in the 4th QUARTER and still blew the game. What more can you say?? The Lakers scored 15 straight points against Portland, 15, and made an INCREDIBLE rally against the Blazers. They are obviously the better team. They had the better record in the regular season, and they beat them in head to head match ups. No one can say Portland is better. LA is gonna go all da way!! The only hope for Indiana is that its Miller Time and Rose is also playing well.

My opinion is that since the Rockets are not in the Finals then we should root our own conference - Western conference. As a basketball fan and since the Lakers will be representing the Western Conference then we should show our support and root for the Lakers, regardless of whether or not we like Phil, Shaq or Kobe.

Now of course I'll be getting some heat on this.

What is with this "Shaq deserves to win" crap? So what if he won the MVP, all that does is pump up the Pacers. The "Fakers" are not a bright team, by any means. The Pacers, on the other hand, are a very very smart team. Oh sure the "Fakers" are the more athletic team, but the Pacers take the better percentage shots. The Pacers are also the better free throw shooting team. PACERS IN 6!!!!!!

Now, I could give a rat's ass about which WC team was better. However, how can anyone say that scoreboard doesn't matter. You guys sound like the fools who say that about the Rox championship years. They coughed up a fifteen point lead ya'll!!!!! That is not the fabric of a championship team. Given how fortunate the Lakers were to get out of the WC, I really feel the Pacers have a chance. They are loaded with veterans and seem poised to take advantage of this opportunity. Whoever Kobe does not cover (Reggie/Jalen) is absolutely going to go off.

Having the best players does not equal the best team. Look at our Rockets last year. I would definetely say by looking at the roster that we had a better team (we had 3 of the top 50 they had 2 - was Duncan even on the team- I think he may have been too young). But I don't walk around saying that the Spurs had an asterick because they didn'y have to go through Dream-Chuck-Pip.

Portland have a bunch of all-stars with no one go to guy (Rasheed may emerge as that guy) but in the playoffs they didn't know who to go to. Sometimes it was Pip, other times Sheed, others time Smith.

And I would say LA deserves the title because they have consistently been the best team in the NBA this year. LA & Protland were neck & neck until their meeting late in Feb. Portland's loss sent them reeling and let LA have home court. They have assembled a championship team.

The Cat, what's up with your obsession with the TrailBlazers. Are you some kind of Pippen Lover or something? why can't you give the Lakers any kind of respect? they had the best record in regular season and made it all the way to the finals. how are they not the best team in the NBA?
