I know the chances are remote, but Steve Nash should absolutely be Rockets top target

So weird that you started this thread. I was going to start a thread saying the same thing.

Basically I think the reason we are looking at grabbign a top PG in the draft is to send him to Phoenix and get Nash.

I think he is our top target and I think we can get him. It would most likely need to be a 3-way deal though.

Nash is a better defender than AB.

Quit acting like he would hurt us defensively...

Nash doesn't try on defense and Brooks does, thats the difference.

Nash doesn't fight through screens and just runs the motions.

Brooks chases people down and blocks the hell outta people.

Aaron Brooks is 150 lbs, and is not a very strong defender to begin with.

We will not lose defense if you put Nash in for Aaron Brooks, and the gain will be tremendous on offense...

people why do you think cuban got rid of him?

Nash is a great PG, one of the best in today's NBA. However he is best used why we are running at a fast pace. he is a great passer in transition and decent shooter himself.

If nash isn't running and passing his games are effected. Dirk wasn't the type of player like amare. it kin dof hindered Dirk's game playing along side with Nash.

This could be the same with Yao, unless we are pairing landry at the 4.

I don't care how he fits with Yao. If we bring him in, he's instantly our best offensive player and its his show to run. It will be Yao's job, and everyone else's, to "fit" in with him.

It really seems like some people try to downplay how awful Nash is on defense. There are times throughout the season when they felt an old slow foward (Grant Hill) would do a better job on his man...that's bad.

Really? You think Yao should adjust to HIM? I'm sure this means running the floor and shooting more mid-range jumpers. Wouldn't that tire Yao out and make him less effective. I guess it would make our offense extremely efficient but it would eventually falter down the stretch...like every other team that made players fit around Nash's style.

I think Nash would be great for this team's offense but I'd like him more playing off Yao than the other way around. We don't have monster finishers like Shaq, Amare, or Jason Richardson. One of the best things Nash could add to this team would be perimeter shooting.

I would love to have Nash.......but not at the expense of Brooks, or Scola, or Landry. If PHX is willing to trade Nash and Amare for McGrady, I'd do that. They've got to take McGrady in a salary dump. I would be willing to give them Landry and Lowry if we were getting back Nash and Amare.

However, if we are really looking for a true distributor point guard type, we should be doing everything we possibly can to either attain Chris Paul or Ricky Rubio. I love Nash but I would much rather have Paul because of his age.

That my friend is a foolish statement. Nash has shown to be at his most effective in the running offense and to try to change our entire team's make up for an aging point guard would set us back years again. Look at what happened in Phoenix when they tried to move away from it last season, the team failed.

Nash would be better suited for a Golden State then Houston, trying to shoe horn him in because of his offense will cause problems one probably won't overcome.

There is no denying that Nash is a great talent.

Didn't a similar scenario already happen...... future HOF pg with great court vision that excels in an uptempo game at the tail end of his careed traded for a lightning quick pg that gets in the paint and can create his own shot.

I mean we all saw how that ended up.

I think if any trade goes down Aaron has a good chance he is included in it.. but i'm not convinced Nash would put us over the top.

    So IMO no deal.

Who knows? Nash could really be the top choice of the Rockets this summer. However, I prefer for the team to get younger then add a veteran that could give at least 2 more productive years.

a 1 yr rental? No thanks...it's almost a sure thing nash will go back to NY when he's a FA, this will just leave us without a PG again..

Wasn't there another thread about getting Steve Nash that went up to 40 something pages???

I understand the Rockets are in a win now situation but the guy is 35 years old. Plus we didn't have problems with Brooks/Lowry combination. PG wasn't an issue for the Rockets.

AB would absolutely be in the package if we get Nash.
