The best place for mexican food here where i live is Chipolte's, heard it made an apperance on The Osbournes.
We used to have them...I used to eat at Bueno all the time when I was a kid. Taco Hell ran em out of business... I thought it was just me. I hadnt been to Taco Hell in ages till a few days back...and all the sudden one lousyquesadilla combo and a meximelt cost me over 5 bucks...When did they jack up the prices? They have an over-inflated sense of how much their food is worth... any way...feeling nostalgic for Taco Bueno...that was some good food...
Well you succeeded to get me to go to TB. I had a Grilled Stuffd Chix Burrito and one of the new Chalupa Double Decker things. Very tasty. 2 hot sauces each. And a Code Red Mtn Dew....liquid speed. Plus my wife made Demolition Man references throughout dinner "In the future, all restuarants are Taco Bell"
Reminds me of one of my favorite tunes: When you're sliding into first and you feel that juicy burst..... DIAHREAH (make farting noise twice) DIAHREAH..... What was 2nd base?? I always forget.....
I went to "Cajun & Grill" for dinner and had some Bourbon and Lemon Chicken(a mix) and some rice and corn. It was well worth 4 bucks cuz there was a TON of chicken. I got back and was really thirsty, and drank too much sunkist.....now i feel like crap.
I used to hit Del Taco on Louetta every day after class in H-town. They had $0.49 tacos that were nothing short of rad!
What did you have to drink? Was that what the hot sauce was for? If so, that's almost as weird as drinking soy sauce from packets (not that I do that or anything).
ALMOST HAD TO START A NEW POST FOR THIS! Do NOT eat Taco Bell/Taco Cabana/Taco Bueno/Del Taco after hours on a regular basis. This is for the college kids. I ate waaayyyyy too much of this in the early days, and it continues to hurt my digestinal tract. This is not sarcasm, just get better food, when you can. However, I do enjoy these places from time to time, however they might kill my colon. Taco Bell: Something about this place is fun! I like the taste of most of it, but as far as THE BEST THINGS ON THE MENU Taco Bell: Meximelt. Taco Cabana: Fajita Supreme Nacho's: Best nacho's under $10. (aside: get the fajita and eggs platter with potatoes substituted for beans after 2:00 A.M.) Taco Bueno: THE MUCHACO! (just so you can say it, seriously, I ate there last week, and it was horrrrrrible) Del Taco: Ask for the waitress to scald herself in cheese sauce for $10. They're happy to oblige, and it's a funny way to end the night. BTW: Chacho's on Westheimer is on the fast track to eclipse Taco Cabana. (And Does anyone else remember Two Pesos? IMO, it ALWAYS beat the crap out of Taco Cabana)
I hadn't had a Meximelt in a while, but I had to get a couple last night. Man, those things are great. I didn't realize. The only problem is they're like 1.19 each, and super small. Kind of a rip.
Hell yeah. In HS I used to hang out at the one on Westheimer & Nantucket. Step 1 - order food, get large coke. Step 2 - return to truck with said coke, nodding to cop on way out. Step 3 - replace 1/3 of coke with Bacardi 151. Step 4 - return to restaurant with coke, nodding again at the doorcop. Step 5 - sit on patio, eat, drink, pick up chicks. Repeat as necessary. Good times. And yes, the food was 10X better than Cabana. I'm not sure why anyone would eat at Taco Bell when there's about 5000 taquerias in Houston, many of which will have much better food for less $.
LMAO! In HS we would all hang out at the Two Pesos/TC at Westheimer & Wilcrest before high school parties or on "off-party nights." Parking lot would be FULL of people doing the coke/151 thing. Man those were the days: 2 dollar pack of cigs + 3 dollar 6 pack of Keystone light + 2 bucks in tacos + high school party for free... Now to go to any freaking bar on a Friday night you blow like 30-50 bucks minimum man...
Two Pesos was the bomb. The one I used to hang out at was on South Main near the Astrodome. Chacho's is a nice hangout but the food is way overrated. It surprises me that Two Pesos and Taco Cabbana never thought about putting the full bar in their establishments. BTW, anyone ever had pancakes and bacon from Two Pesos? Surprisingly very good.
a friend of mine used to call country clubs in Austin on Saturdays and ask about the wedding receptions there that evening...he'd say, "I know the groom's name...but what's the bride's name?" Then he and his friends would show up at the wedding reception to eat...knowing the bride's name would get them out of tight jams. i always thought that was pretty creative trickery. i don't encourage it...but it's funny, nonetheless.
To explain my warm milk comment earlier.. Growing up, my Dad always broke up graham crackers and would pour (cold) milk over them and then microwave the bowl for about a minute. It ends up pretty soupy like oatmeal but a 'smoother' consistency.. I have always loved this for breakfast. I guess my family might be a little unique in eating our graham crackers this way.. Who knows..
