I just stapped back and realized the NBA is barely entertaining

This thread is horrible, Basketball is an art and true "basketball people" love to watch well played basketball. The greatest players and coaches in the world all combine to see who the very best is. I love the NBA.....

so its entertaining to 'true fans' but no to the rest of the world. i enjoy the fundamentals as much as anyone, but there's no denying that the playoffs just haven't been exciting since the warriors left. its sad when the level of nba excitement peaks in the 1st round. season shouldve ended when the warriors beat the mavs, with stern handing them a 'team that just dont give a **** and entertained the hell out of us, therefore we salute you' trophy.

For the playoffs I would like to see 5 game series and less time off between games.

I mean, it is what it is. Could SOME games be better than they are? Sure.

I didn't enjoy the first game of the finals, but I've enjoyed PLENTY of other games in the playoffs.

And why are the games not entertaining? No need to majorly change the game itself, but I think there are too many teams and not enough quality players per team. And then fix the issues with the draft lottery to stop teams from tanking, and you'll get better games.

The regular season is just way too damn long.

82 games is ridiculous. Back to back games are just laughable.

Shorten the season, reduce the games, minimize traveling, and the game will be a lot more exciting.

This fool stepped up in my grill today -- so I said to him, "YOU BEST STAPP THE F@!K BACK !"

Then he came at me with ARMS WIDE OPEN -- so I punched him right in the muzzle.

If I were to choose between a RANDOM NFL game and a RANDOM NBA game, it would be NFL easily.

Tieing incentives to winning percentage of a team has serious side effects, although it does intensify in game competition. For one, no free agents would want to go to the weaker teams.

    Shorter regular season
    Fewer teams
    Non-guaranteed contracts
    High-pay, high-competence, high-accountability refs

That can pretty much fix it.

Oh, yeah, use some technology to fix the flopping problem. And it wouldn't hurt if players have to pass a shooting test before they are qualified to play in the league.

I agree that you are all partly right with the flaws of watching the Spurs,

But the Cavs actually play at a slower pace and prefer the slower pace more than the Spurs.

and this would slow the game even more with more fouls committed and more free throw attempts and more charges taken.

i guess they shouldve done the same in 94 once denver took out seattle. Oh wait then the rockets wouldve never won against the knicks in one of the most boring finals ever outside of ny and houston

The Suns are more fun cuz of the players. Nash is more fun to watch than Parker. The same thing goes for Marion and Amare (compared to Manu and Duncan) and Barbosa is just amazing at times.

I felt like it was this year for them to win it all. The spurs were handed a series victory. If you dont believe me, watch game 6 and see if the Suns got one break by the refs in the entire game.

None of the steady teams in any sport are very exciting.....it is their methodical and practical game plans that keep them contenders.

None of the flashy teams have won anything as well yet such as MAVS, SUNS, WARRIORS, RAMS, BENGALS, etc.

Its wits against quicks....and when the legs get weak....the brains know you are vulnerable.

The Rams didn't win anything? The "greatest show on turf"? The Colts aren't flashy?

Funny, I'm hearing this same lament about the playoffs being soooo boring to watch up here in Dallas as well. I'm willing to bet the farm that if it were the Rockets or the Mavericks in the Finals instead of the Spurs, I wouldn't hear a peep out of these so-called basketball fans. Anyone care to remember the 1994 NBA Finals between Houston and the Knicks? Now that was some supremely ugly basketball but it was all beautiful to everyone in Houston because our Rockets won. The reality is that it really doesn't matter one whit whether you folks like or dislike San Antonio because the only thing that counts is that they are playing for their 4th NBA title in 9 years while Dallas and Houston get to watch it all on TV...again.
