I know you are joking but there are something that should not be joked about. You should not be posting things like to someone who has just lost his job, try to feel how you would feel if this happend to you.
I am an IT consultant. I've been laid off several times and have gone months without work. I have taken jobs out of state because there was no work here before. See also, droxfords post. I know exactly what it is like and the only thing that you can do about it is laugh and work your ass off to get into that next gig.
Thank you man, yeah I am puzzled as to why they let me go. They told me "We really like you, you have done a great job, you are incredibly smart, and have a great future ahead of you, but it just is not a good fit here for the both of us." WHAT THE **** IS THAT ****??
sorry to hear about that. good luck on your job search. in the meantime, why not go stand in line for unemployment? you'll probably get a healthy dose of foodstamps also. however, you can't use them on beer (light, mexican, or otherwise.) seriously, you've paid for the unemployment. you might as well use it.
It was a recruitment firm, and I had just generated some job orders for them on Tuesday, worked on the job orders yesterday, and got this today. I brought them freaking business, what the hell? Recruitment firms are the dumbest places to work for in my opinion.
not at all, I got along with everyone there......this is the most shocking thing that has ever occured in my life...
Too bad. I hope you can find something soon. Even though severance sucked, I guess it's better than nothing. At least you have more time to browse the BBS now
Don't worry about why. Sounds like you'll never know. I ddin't get one job offer years ago because I was too upwardly mobile and they wanted a dolt who would love a junior analyst position and never want a promotion. You'll never know if it was something like that or an insecure boss or...on and on. One of the problems with the tech bubble was so many skilled, highly paid folks were on the street and overqualified for many of the positions out there. But what it come down is an opportunity to understand that who you are...your identity...is absolutely not what some people who you met 4 weeks ago might think of you (good or bad). It is not your job either.
Were your benefits (e.g. health insurance) about to kick in or had you already had insurance? I have known a couple of folks who coincidentally got laid off the day before they were eligible to receive benefits.
that is a really crappy way to do business. It makes me sad to think that some companies would treat their employees like that.
It doesn't sound like you were laid off, it sounds like you were fired. Laid off is when your position is eliminated and it usually doesn't happen to just one person. Something more to this story.
Scanning this thread, I initially thought you were excited about getting laid... yeesh. It'll work out for the best.
