I am actually in the process of completing the bar in my basement. kegerators can be had for 600 it does help if you are willig to assemble yourself, or have a complete self standing machine. I am getting one that you actually mount the tap on a bar like well in a bar. this means the actual keg cooler does not need to be pretty and stainless steel, but the tower needs to be nice and the pourer should be attractive. I will have to drill through my bar top and mount the tower and run the tubing, but the end result is way cooler that a stand alone unit in the corner. and a good bit cheaper for the look i am getting. but well beer is beer as far as CO2 the following places will fill your tanks. ANY paintball field or store, so I suggest looking one up. cost is between $7 and $2 depending on the place, but those are NY prices. and for a 20 oz tank ANY welding supply place can fill a bulk tank for between 25 and 50 depending if you have a 50lb or 100lb tank also and "gas company" where you would get your gas for a gas oven usually cary CO2 and prices should be the same as the welders. resturants bars, delis, any place that servs soda from a fountain or beer from a tap have plenty of bulk CO2, but with a bulk tank you will need a way to fill a smaller tank if that is what you have. you can get one from any paintball store. sold as a fill station from betwee 70 and 115 lastly, for some reason scuba places where people do deep diving cary other gases, but i think thats pure nitrogen and well that wont help you unless you got a whole different system but they may may have CO2
I should have mentioned that the Viking has the option to be set up like you mentioned....with a tower that comes through the counter. My plans are for an outdoor kitchen area, so I need the stainless......though I'll probably end up with something a bit less expensive than Viking.
yeah, I actually am familiar with the viking. It is way fancy. I am pretty sure that alot of those stand alones can be set up with the tower, but they look pretty damn nice, and their portability is a plus, so you might as well just weel it around where needed. garage, basement, back yard BBQ. I have a bar, so it is pretty much a necessity in my basement. but as far as the BBQ I will be huffing it down my Bilco stairs every time I need a beer from the back yard Any one that did some research like my self, were you amazed at how many different kegerators are manufatured out there. and how many build your own kits there are? I will let you guys know when I finally buy mine, and maybe put up a few pix of my basement when its complete. All I got now is a dart board up. no couches yet, no tv, just the bare bones.
Anyone know where I can download some PDF instructions for one of those common Haier kegerators? Ive gotten by without one for 2 years but the damn thing needs some love about now.
I'm sitting here reading this thread, and all of a sudden I'm like "WTF, Voice of Reason's back?" Then I looked at the dates and was disappointed. Thanks for bumping a 4 year old thread.
Hehe... My bad. Ever since I was re-rookied I have been opening old threads like its my job. While its up... Anyone have some settings to maximize taste? Once again thanks for the site Meowgi.
Me too, I was like WTF! They're back and where are all the photos (missing in the posts).....Then saw the date...
