so, i take it you live on the nw side of town... i bowl my free games at AMF willowbrook every once in a while cuz it's closer to my house, but i don't think sure they have the same "fantasy bowling" league i was talking about. i bowl my league games at AMF diamond lanes right off of 45 and 1960.

Woah woah woah. Everyone gets a $250-$300 ball?

I've... never heard of that but it sounds kickass. How though? lol. They need to pay lane fees, etc. How is there enough money left over for a $5000 bowling ball for everyone?

Well, the total costs of the league outweigh the cost of the ball. Also you can get the ball for cheaper than the retail price when you order.

So those that bowl at Willowbrook, how are the lanes and atmosphere? Because when I bowled up in Waco during college it'd be full of white trash and those punk kids! *shake fist*

First, the league orders them in bulk so they get a good deal.

I only paid 200 drilled w/ inserts for mine from my pro shop guy. Figure he is still making a profit off of me even at that price, and you have to figure the ball costs significantly less in bulk than they do retail.

just the normal atmosphere. you go during the day, you'll see families. you'll see some pros like R2K, sometimes by themselves....you go at night...well, you see Kam's crowd...the teenie boppers. it's not bad though. i like that place.

    Major LAWL

Not even close, I can think of at least 15 guys in my league that are better than me.....and a couple of women.

Im no more than a fairly decent amateur. ;)

Now that I think about it I did go once a couple years ago to a cousin's bday party. Of course the kids were throwing 5 balls down the lane and as a former AMF employee for all of 4 months, I felt the workers' pain as they tried to explain that doing that was bad. Then I bowled my only 200+ game.

Btw, when are the cheaper rates? Any dollar nights or 2 dollar games? Either on Bunker, Willowbrook, or the I-45/1960?

cheaper rates are always during the early day hours, some places run special deals on Sundays to get people in the door...that is always a madhouse tho.

Alot of places also offer group rates, rent a lane or something similar.

Does anyone know a good house somewhere inside the loop that might be centrally located for a possible CF Bowling Night? If not, we would probably have to do two seperate ones(east side at Alpha, west side ?)

    I need bowling tips....

I've only been bowling once a few weeks ago...

    36 - 1st game (beaten badly by a 9 year old...and he gloated)

Realized I was focusing too much at the arrows on the floor.
by the 3rd or 4th frame i started staring down the front pin
and improved and ended up with

    147 - 2nd Game

I have no skill, no fancy curves, no real technique... i just focus on the lead pin and shoot, but i know there's more to it.

    so any advice is appreciated.

Is anyone able to confirm the AMF Willowbrook free ball deal? I've never heard of getting a $250-300 ball for a 6 week summer league?
