It´s simply too early to say. We are still figuring out our game plan and rotation, the guy still get to know each other. We still have a lot of growing to do - and maybe need 1 or 2 trades. The good thing is we are winning for the most part, even with several of our players not reach their potential in several games. The bad thing is a lot of our games have been ugly at times. We could be a title contender and we could be the disappointment of the season, all depending on how this team developes and what gameplan McHale can create. But from a pure talent (or matchup) perspective I agree, we look like a contender.
I don't think you understand the concept of a message board. You're not trying to publish peer-reviewed literature. It's silly that you take it that seriously.
They always seem to start slow and everyone says they're done, then they turn it on later in the season & for the playoffs. Happens every year.
It's a long season to gel. Our players will get better and better going forward. McHale needs to start finding and utilizing better match ups. I am not worried about our players performing on the playoffs, I am more worried about our coach's ability to adjust rosters as needed during the game. Our D will improve as season goes along. With improved D, we no longer need to stay hot to beat quality teams. What most impressed me the most about Portland game is that our three baskets did not fall, yet we still blew by Portland. That's a good sign.
They are still a big ? to me. I haven't watched any of their games yet but from the highlights, all they show is Westrbrook flying and dunking. As impressive as they are, those are individual plays. If they go against a team who has a better defense, not sure how effective they will be. Just as a reference, they lost Martin and we gained the best center in league. In paper, our team improved a whole lot if you compare last years roster.
The Rockets coaching staff will make the correct decisions. They have a certifiable basketball genius with 24/7 access to the coaching staff. McHale's role is to handle the players, a role he is very well suited for. Staffing and strategy is where Morey really shines. Unlike last year the Rockets can win in a number of ways this season. The three, defense, rebounding, paint points, and on and on. That is the hallmark of a great team. And they will get better as the season progresses.
