Kobe Bryant is without doubt one of the best players to play in the NBA EVER. One has to feel sad that his career might be close to an end because of this... Here's to hope that he still has a couple of good seasons left in him. With Kobe, you may not like him, but you've gotta respect him.

Nahh Kobe can hang it up now and leave as one of the greatest with no regrets

While Roy is a tragic story of a what could've been super star derailed by injury.
I'm still really sad about Roy :( :(

You don't understand the difference between him missing a few games and being out for good? That is huge. They would no longer be a contender. The whole psyche of that team would change. The rest of the NBA would smell blood and cut them up. It's easy for guys to step up for a game here and there or even 4-5 games in-a-row. But knowing their security blanket was gone would send that squad down. They don't have another alpha dog to take his place. Pau would become the leader by default, which isn't something he does well in the NBA.

A train can ride momentum for a while, but it eventually slows down without the engine. A chicken can run a few steps after it's head is cut off; but it dies.

If you want to be delusional, be my guest.

I don't know that anyone is worth a 100M contract but him and KG are two of the very few that are imo. Does it surprise anyone that Kobe has knee problems with the pounding an NBA player takes and especially for a guy like Kobe that has done it for 15 years.

It will come at a price, I see Kobe getting artificial knee replacements when he gets older.

why do people hate? because they hate those who are better than them, those teams they can never beat, those players better than their own, those they can never have. that's how this kobe thing works, there are very few ppl with neutral feelings towards him, because well, ppl are either jealous of him and his achievements, and always find excuses to such as "oh he was lucky", or "oh he had help", "he was a rapist" to justify their own failures, or ppl can learn to appreciate a great player for who he really is, nba in the last ten years would not be nearly as fun and successful without its best player from the last decade

The media leaked out LeBron was hurting when he didn't say anything. It happens in sports. The media will see if a guy is hurt and report it.

Just because a guy is reported to be injured doesn't mean he brought it up as an excuse.

And everyone gave Lebron crap about that, called him a whiner, and told him to sack up. He and Kobe are held to completely different standards.

I was one of those people who thought the Lakers would still win 50-ish games without Kobe last year. I think Gasol is good enough to be the best player on a team that wins that many games in the regular season. In fact, he's done it before with a less talented team. But you're absolutely right that he isn't the type of player that can lead a championship contender.

The question was whether the Lakers would win 55 games without Kobe. Yes, they would. Gasol won almost that many on a far worse team when the conference was at its toughest, and he's better now.

It's funny how Kobe is getting a bad rap for being dirty, LeBron a bad rap for being immature. And Michael Jordan is held as the golden boy that had absolutely no issues whatsoever.

History is written by the victor.

Either you are mentally challenged or you've never watched a prime Jordan take the physical Pistons, Knicks and the Pacers apart. I would also take a prime Shaq, Olajuwon and even Barkley or Clyde over him.I could also make a case for a prime Duncan and Karl Malone.
