Well my prediction is 34 wins.....but unlike Silas I wouldn't be wasting time playing Nix, Mathews and Boban. I said play Eric Gordon very few minutes. Put him in bubble wrap so he doesn't get hurt or lessen the chances. Trade him at trade deadline. He looks like he has checked out on us. I support Silas but have not agreed with everything he has done. I would have platooned Green/KPj with Josh Christopher.....some EG. Staggered the minutes of Green-KPj better. Played Tari more...... especially with Jabari. Their +/- together is bad but could become a weapon in a few weeks as they get familiar playing at the same time. Players would be developing through this rough patch of games that we are suppose to lose anyway. Making us better when the first 25 games complete. You are probably right in that we are tanking for Wembanyama
I still think the Rockets will get to 30 wins. Two things that will significantly impact winning: 1. This is a team that will get better throughout the course of the season barring injuries. 2. The schedule will get relatively easier after about another 10 games
My comment was the record needed to get to 34. Meaning after the outcome tomorrow they will likely have to go 33-41 It is really starting to look like the Nets will be giving the Rockets extra help this regarding odds of a top 4 pick. I’m personally about over the losing though. I’m ready to see the team do well.
Oh ok, well I've seen teams start off slow but then turn it on. Be terrible and then make the playoffs in the NFL, MLB, and NBA. Idk my friend, I expected about 20 teams to tank for Wembanyama; but Im not sure I can name 1. Spurs, Blazers, Jazz, Hornets, Magic all look like they want to win. Thoughts of WWIII, gas shortages, rising prices in goods, food shortages might be having teams say, "Screw the 5 year plan or tank for next year!" "Let's make as much money now while people can spend some money."
This aspect has been pretty interesting to me. Perhaps we'll see it later in the season, but I agree. Even the Rockets don't seem like they are "tanking" as much as they just aren't competitive at the moment.
Yeah, with exception to the Utah game in Utah and the Blazers game.... I feel like the Rockets are trying (except Gordon at times).
At least we dont have the worst net rating yet woo hoo! Just give KPJ a few more games and we'll be REAL dumpster juice like the Pistons!! Wemby here we come !!!
Has there been a team that had the worst record in the NBA 3 years in a row? Even the trust the process Sixers were the worst team just once we are about to three-peat this year
I think the KPJ fans are ignoring clear efficiency data to try to minimize criticisms of KPJ's weaknesses. But to be fair, this is team efficiency. Team efficiencies and individual efficiencies are very different beasts. Team efficiency is almost pure stat, meaning very little noise. The only context you need is strength of schedule, and maybe injuries. Individual efficiency has a lot of noise. You do need a sufficient dose of context to interpret.
I see what you are getting at(volume, role, etc), but team efficiency is really nothing but the sum of each individual players efficiency. And the bigger the chunk of the possessions/scoring attempts you are allotted, the larger impact your individual efficiency has on the teams overall efficiency. If your highest volume guys are all low efficiency, you get what we have here. One of the least efficient teams in the league.
Rockets have 2 guys taking 39% of the team’s shot attempts with downright atrocious efficiency then u add in Jabari’s 12 shots on 31% shooting those are our top 3 guys in shot attempts per game…none even close to league average efficiency they take over half of the team’s shots
+/- is so flawed don't bother... Look at KD there, if your team is terrible, your +/- is going to be bad along with the rest of your starting teammates. If you're a middling team, you're likely in the negative even if you're LeBron James or Michael Jordan or whoever. Really overused stat that became popular because it boosted LeBron over Kobe despite different systems and roles for other players. LeBron -by design-for his precious stats-was the engine and wheels of his teams and they lived or died without him and they weren't good enough to do anything but get out of the historically weak ass East at best and he needed to team up with other superstars for his play style to win championships. I'll give it credit on using it to mix and match the right lineups on the court, but using it as a singular stat at an individual players effectiveness or greatness doesn't work.
