How is a SF that is ALWAYS injured and has off court problems going to help us win a championship? Odom is toast!

I agree with hey partner on all this, but maybe not for the same reasons. MoT, Kenny and E. Griff. have had a horrible start. I do agree with most that KT disrupts the flow of the offense and forces too many shots. MoT's shot has just abdanoned him and I wonder how long it will take him to recover his former ability - though he has shown willingness to pass the ball. E. Griff's. 20 and has too much ability to give up on after 1 season and 16 games.

The bottom line we need someone to step up period. We all have wish lists, but I just thinks it's ridiculous to try to trade anybody while their value is at it's lowest, the team really struggling at 9-7 and Yao has only been asserting himself for about 9 games. We're playing 12 of the next 16 games at home. And the practice opportunities we'll get is coming at an important time.

It's been ugly early, but didn't everyone expect that? If not, well... The disappointments have been surprising, but I think Yao's play should be ample reason to give this team a little time. But if you think that MoT, KT and E. Griff suck, shouldn't you be damned happy at 9-7? It's possible they just suck now .

Out of all the 3 PF's,Griffin and KT are tradeable.Mo-T is coming back from a major injury and has shown that he isn't ready yet for big minutes but might be all right to give some scoring off the bench. Griffin is young and should be developed for the future but I think it's possible for him to be combined with Cato and possibly Moochie which might get us a Brian Grant.Grant has knee problems which concerns me.
Cato,Griffin,or Cato/KT along with T-Mo might be enough to get us Kurt Thomas.I don't think that we can get anyone else except for Tyrone Hill but I would pass up on him.He is a tough player but is getting old and has had chemistry problems with the Cavs and is not likely to give up his ways.
Giving up Cato will make it harder for Yao to matchup with the bigger and more experienced centers/PF in the league.
I wouldn't go for Odom because of all his injuries and off court problems.

HP, its implicit in this discussion that the Rockets would have to do 2 for 1 for Grant to make it work in terms of PT. Thats the whole PT of this thread, clearing up the glut and getting one guy that fits the needs. Its hilarious how your trying to twist this whole thing to protect your boy Kenny. The Rockets would not necessarily have to trade two PFs, but 2 frontcourt players at the PF or C positions would do just fine b/c Grant has been playing a lot of center on the Heat and is capable of backup 5 in addition to starting 4. The problem is that this team does not have an enforcer type which is what is needed to complement Yao. No, KT is not an enforcer. Sorry but 7 RPG in 30 MPG is not enforcer type material. KT plays good defense, but his rebounding is average and offense is a disaster.

Also, I think everyone here realizes Brand is a longshot. Stop trying to act so high and mighty with your anti-dreamcasting talk. The only chance a Brand deal could happen is if the Clips traded him before the deadline. Obviously thats a longshot, no one is acting like its a sure thing. Its pretty pathetic that you are protecting Kenny with your "Well why is he getting the mins?" argument. Kenny is getting the PT b/c our other two PFs are sucking right now and not defending well at all. Rudy is taking the lesser of 3 evils. Eddie Griffin did a very good job on Duncan tonight in the 4th; if he can continue playing like that, KT's mins will drop.

So you would trade Griffin, Cato and Moochie for Grant? All I have to say to that is .

Why do you keep responding to me, in such a personal manner. I thought we agreed to stop this???? Did I miss something?

If you can't see that taking on Grant at max without trading EG or Mo produces a $20million dollar glut at the power forward position with none of them able to play small forward....

well...then you will not understand why Les Alexander is laughing at you. that trade has nothing to do with Kenny. Get off it.

And your Brand idea is even more impossible....

MManal. Despite me always welcoming you back wholeheartedly and talking ball. You and I both know you have been getting way too personal lately. (That whole Fizer thing still bother you, I guess??) So, do me a favor. Put me on your ignore list.

HeyPartner... couldn't agree with you anymore about Brian Grant. Everyone in here seems to be on him too much. He is aging fast and he has had problems with his knees in the past.

Kurt Thomas's production in the recent few years has been increasing. I know the Knicks need help at the C, and we have Cato. Maybe package Cato/Kt or Cato/Moochie for Kurt Thomas/Charlie Ward scenerio.

It is pretty pathetic that I found yet a THIRD personal attack in the same response with no provocation.

Dude, you make my point. Note that I have been asking that rhetorical question "why is Kenny getting the minutes" for over a week now soley to get the response of "everyone else is sucking" that you f i n a l l y gave me as well as the entire BBS and Feigen and Rudy. Before the 5 game road trip, no one bought that. Certainly you didn't, after the Lakers game saying Maurice was improved over his last year with more awesome low post than ever before...yet Mo has twice gone public saying he is not even at equal status. Mo flat out said you he was not up to his past standards...not once...but twice....you want me to pull the Chronicle quotes???!!

It's like you are on this whole Fizer thing, and now you see Maurice is not the same at all, much less improved, and you go to Draftsource.net protect my reputation mode and say everyone who says something otherwise is pathetic.

Dude,,,,this is a BBS. Just talk basketball, and move on to your next prediction and dreamcast. Fizer will never get better. Brand is literally impossible for us to get, snd Les will never buy Grant to field $20million dollars on 3 power forwards. Let "your man" Fizer go, and your silly trade ideas that have no basis in CBA reality.

It's OK. Just make sure you put me on your Ignore List.

    Brian Grant

The guy is a Yo-Yo, puts up these sensational default numbers in the East where there are no centres and the if he plays enough minutes the ball will fall into his lap enough time to get some big rebounding numbers not to mention a few pts here and there. But what does he do with a Big name centre beside him...... BUGGER all, he was a complete waste of space last year when Mourning played.

Why would we want his enormous salary, signed when Money wasn't an issue in the NBA. which would leave us with a 10 million dollar Brian Grant and his padded east stats, a 7 million Mo Taylor, who wouldn't know defense if it was in the back of his baggy pants, you i think went scoreless tonight (but that must be Kenny's fault) and a 3 million dollar glamour rookie who looks more and more like a Deer caught in the headlights with each game. Btw the memo is out around the league, Eddie plays for the swat and that's it!!!!

why on earth of the already have a logjam of Power Forwards would we bring in another, surely these guys have to make the biggest adjustment with Yao now taking over the mantle in the offensive keyway, maybe we could give them a little time to adjust offensively and settle into the role Rudy wants them to play, the in the mean time surely the best defender should get a game. And if we really want to upgrade the PF spot we should go out and get us a stud..... say some like FIZER!!!!!

Another vote against Brian Grant. He would be great if he didn't have a Bill Gates sized contract. To me Grant is not much better than Danny Fortson. A good rebounder with not much offense and relatively subpar defense. No thanks.
The game against the Spurs should have given you a clear idea of who is and should continue to be the Rockets best power forward: Eddie Griffin. His defense on the best power forward on earth, Tim Duncan, was exceptional. He's the best pure rebounder on the team and has all of the potential to be an elite player on both ends of the court. Why bankrupt the future now, anyway? Do you really think that a small upgrade at power forward now is going to make the Rockets into a championship contender this year? Unless the Rockets can get Elton Brand, or Kurt Thomas on the cheap (as in Kenny Thomas cheap) they should let this team gel and structure everything around Yao Ming.

Griffin is going to be the future of this team, but he is not ready right now, that is why we need a Otis Thorpe type player. And we can do that by trading Mo Taylor for Tyrone Hill. By the time Hill is to old to play anymore Griffin will be ready to take over. Plus Trading for Hill will get rid of Taylors contract. Why would the cavs do this? Because Hill had problems with other players on the team, and if they trade for Taylor they would be a worst team this year, but a better one in the furture. This would also help in getting Lebron James.

Didn't somebody post this summer that MoT was mopping the floor with KT at camp? After watching another 0-fer performance last night one has to wonder about the relapse in MoT's game from just this summer.

First off HP, I still think Mo T has improved his game. These quotes refer more to knocking off the rust and getting back into the groove of two yrs ago. Remember in the 2nd half of that season, Mo was really in a groove and playing well. He discussed that he had been working real hard over the summer to become a better defender and rebounder and it was sad that he ended up tearing his achilles and would have to wait a while to show his improvement on the court. I think what we are seeing now with Mo is rust, lack of rhythm, timing etc. Also, the fact that Rudy is trying to play 3 guys at the PF spot isnt helping much either b/c the minutes are very very inconsistent.

Also, since you feel like slamming me for my trying to make prognostications and guesses and such about what will work, how about your great KT at the SF experiment? Aside from the game Rice was out with a sore back, Rudy has completely given up on that of late. Rice and T-Mo have been sharing the SF minutes, and KT is no longer at the 3 spot.

As far as the Fizer thing.... Not even the greatest scouts are right 100% of the time. Drafting is an inexact science b/c there are soooooo many variables. Teams that have been doing this for yrs and go through a rigorous process of testing, interviewing, watching the player live many many times still make mistakes. Anyone who claims to have never made a mistake evaluating a potential draftee is either full of crap or really doesnt make an evaluation. I dont consider re-gurgitating the players college stats and listing how many awards he won as an evaluation.

I would not completely slam the door shut on Fizer also. I am beginning to think that Krause and co. are horrid at developing talent overall. Think about it, Jamal Crawford, Marcus Fizer did not develop well and Curry and Chandler are moving along very very slowly. Ron Artest didnt become the player he is today till he left for Indy. Elton Brand had already received very good coaching at Duke and was NBA ready coming out of the draft. It is possible that if Fizer leaves Chicago and goes elsewhere, he may start to blossom.

Just to stir the pot a little... Cat, KT and Eddie for Brand and Piatkowski works on RealGM. Piatkowski is shooting 50.7% from the field, 85.7% from the stripe, and 41.3% from downtown while playing 28 minutes per game. Brand speaks for himself.

Now signing these guys under the cap in the offseason is another issue, but I'd make this trade based on talent in a New York minute. Brand will want an extension and "P" will be a free agent at the end of the season. Sterling gets Cat and Eddie for at least the next 3 years at a low salary, and KT might resign for a reasonable amount if he's starting.

We get Brand. And we're title contenders for the foreseeable future.

That would be great if we could get Brand... but it is highly unlikely. Kurt Thomas is still my number one choice. ;)

It'd be nice to get either Brand or Kurt Thomas, but I like what we have there now. We have potential out the wazoo, and we don't need any more players who demand the ball. We have Mobley, Francis, and Yao who all can score (Rice, KT, and Norris who will go off once in a while), and who all love to score. Griffin and MoT are fine where they are, although it would be nice if they could hit some sort of shot once in a while. Trust me, Griffin will come along, by the end of the season ya'll will be singing a different tune about griff. They'll all find their niche on this team. Is it possible to have an overkill of talent on one team(actually are we a little loaded even now? Dunno.)? I think it's very possible. But don't get me wrong, getting Brand or Thomas would be sweeeeeeet. I just don't think it's worth it right now to trade away any of the players we have ('cept Rice, and possibly kt & norris, but this trade would never ever ever ever happen). So I say, in your dreams, the knicks aren't giving Thomas, no way no how. They already gave up Camby, if they don't get a legit defending, rebounding, above average offensive center, they ain't letting him go. And Brand... well... it's Brand.

The Rockets running an inside-outside game with Ming and Brand drawing double teams down low and having Francis, Piatkowski, and Rice bombing away on the outside would be tough for any team to beat. That's a championship team for sure.
