First of all, I'm just as frustrated as you are for tonight's los, but you have to look at the big picture, think rationally before jump your gun.

Second, Francis & Mobley have been given the ball, let loose to play this way for how many years? Four? Now you want them to change to a pass-first player? I know it's frustrating to watch, but you have to give them time to grow together, learn the system. I'm not saying JVG's system will definitely work out here, or Francis & Mobley will change & fit the new system, but we should at least give them some time.

Last, the difference between us and the Jazz? Utah has a system for years, they picked the players who fit their system; the Rockets pick the players because they are good athletes.

    Daoshi,

I have been watching Francis and Mobley botch fast break after fast break for 5 and 6 years respectivly.

Just like with Eddie Griffin at some point you have to understand that they are just not going to get it.

If their light bulbs are only at 20 watts, they will never burn bright....

And combined their IQ would not add up to passage on the tollway.

Don't mind your opinion, but please use something more descriptive next time so we can reduce the Francis and Mobley are dumb threads after losses.

    Thx.

Hmmm, not sure how to go about it....I don't like putting blunt bits in my thread title, I would rather entice people to read, but am willing to try to help out any way I can....

I would think that my history here, would be enough for most people to understand it is time for a Steve Fancy and Cutturnover Mobley bashing.

Dude, I knew you'd be showing in full force way back in the second quarter. I hesitated from starting my own thread and figured I'd leave the honors to you.

I think steve and cat are just the kind of people who have to get it before they finally "get it". I don't believe they will change as long as they are allowed to stay on the team.
It is just too bad there are really not much trade option out there for cat and steve in which we can get back a stud pg in return.

and for Yao to be more aggressive, I think it will come when steve and cat are gone, and yao is officially "the man" in the team.

    Pimp,

I tape the games and watch afterards with no commercials.

My wife and I watche Bruce Almighty, and after that decent comedy, I sat down to watch the TRAGEDY that is the Rockets.

    People...WAKE UP !!

Utah SUCKS !!! They are a HORRIBLE team, the Rockets falling apart tonight and against Toronto, and against Portland is the same ole, same ole.....

The team needs a guard enema.....

Imagine what will happen when Francis loses his athletic ability...he will be DONE...because upstairs....it is a blank sign saying SPACE FOR RENT....and no one is buying....

Also....watch Allen Iverson...he has turned into a much better passer than Francis or Mobley.....

Francis is a good player, who will NEVER be great...and Mobley is a decent player who THINKS he is great.

If both of them nets the Rocks McGrady, they would be on the first boat out of here.

The Thing That Troubles Me Most
about the two most recent losses is whether or not we learned a damned thing from it all. To keep a game close to the VERY END, much less win the game, speaks volumes of how we've grown as a team toward becoming a legitimate playoff contender. Yet, in both these games, the Rox guards seem to just let it slip away. Why??? Two minutes to go, down four, there is STILL a good chance to sneak out with a win. Have our guards learned anything from this loss other than shooting poorly and high turnovers are not good?

What's most impt is whether or not our guards become better DECISION-MAKERS b/c of experience. To date, I see some very troubling patterns in our guards' POOR decision-making. And perhaps this is what troubles JVG too. I don't know what it's going to take. Maybe more film? Maybe video games? Whatever it takes to get better decision-making instilled in our guards will be well worth the effort.

I would get Mark Jackson on the bench...I think he is still available, and then I would let him finish games and sit either Steve or Cuttino at Crunch...take the ball out of their hands...they have proven time and time again, they can not handle making smart decions.

You can't fit a square peg into a round hole....

Dakota, I'm not disagreeing with you concerning the mental capacity of our guards. You have a good argument after nights like tonight. I was just saying that I knew you'd be showing up tonight.

Regarding the talent level of the Jazz, they are hardly a horrible team. They may not have Stockton and Malone anymore, but they are a smart team that plays hard and plays smart. It was evident in the first quarter of tonights game that the Rockets were going to have their work cut out for them.

The Jazz outhustled us for 48 minutes on both ends of the floor. Francis taking it personal and trying to do it all himself down the stretch did us in. I'll agree with that much.

    I concur...

My point is if you give equal brain power to our guards, we blow them out.

    :)

However, for that to happen you would need to pull Mobley and Francis' heads out of their own rectums first.

    Dadakota,

I swear if I didnt see your name on the original post I would have thought that I had already posted. I am out of town for the holiday and luckily I had a cousin who had a satellite to where I could catch the game. My thoughts after the game were pretty much like yours. I told my brother if we had someone like Steve Nash we would have a nice team. My brother was watching the game with me and Steve and Cuttino were so predictable I would tell my brother what would happen before it would.

I knew at the end of the game when we were trying to make the comeback that Steve would either throw the ball away or take a terrible shot and of course he was called for up and down. Steve and Cuttino have no smarts and dont have the ability to "WILL" a game at the end. Rudy T really got their head inflated and it doesnt seem like they will ever learn.

How many times have they walked the ball up the court instead of pushing it up? How many more times are we gonna see Steve just dribble the ball until the shot clock at 0? How many times does he have a wide open shot only to usually drive in a take a harder shot? I get so frustrated and I am beginning to believe it when people tell me that Francis is overrated.

And Moochie? Man someone should call the police on him for the way he robbed the Rockets on his contract. He plays like trash and he so darn slow. I saw someone actually get up the court faster with the ball in their hand than Moochie could without the ball.

And while we are at it, how is it that Yao ming can get his arm or hand barely touched and he lose the dang ball? He really needs to get into the weight room and stop shooting all those fadeaways.

On the bright side I like what Pike and Jackson bring to the game and even Padgett gets in some hustle every now and then.

Lopez and Williams lighting it up? This is embarressing.

I can look past dribbling and throwing up wild buzzer beaters, but Steve's stupid skipping while bringing the ball up and bouncing the ball off his foot is freaking annoying! He is obviously very adept at handling the ball, but somehow becomes a r****d when pressed. Not good.

Maybe JVG should bench Francis and Mobley and give Moochie and Wilks a start just to let them know he is not happy with their play and wants to make an example out of them.

Of course JVG would immediately put them back in within the first few minutes, but it would be interesting to see if they get it then.

We are BETTER than the Jazz. Period. We are BETTER than the Portland Trailmixers. Anyone who believes differently should get their head checked. How do I know? b/c we are NOT a .500 caliber team. These other teams we played in the West are mediocre at best. They overachieve when they beat .500+ teams like us. We underachieve when we lose to teams like Memphis, Utah, and Portland. There is absolutely no excuse for a team this good on paper to be losing to these mediocre teams.

We have guys who have played together for years and yet we're still failing in all the basic areas (e.g. boxing out, taking high percentage shots, passing!) This team, in its current configuation SHOULD be at least a 6th seed come playoff time. We are not a marginal playoff team. PHX, Utah, GS - those teams with missing pieces of the puzzle are marginal teams. We have it all and yet we play like we're broke.

    :p
