Trevor's slashing is overrated. He's a disaster trying to create. He would be doing less of this if he was playing a role more similar to Shane's. A guy like Iguodala or Kevin Martin would make us all wonder why we ever thought Ariza was good at getting to the rack amongst any traffic whatsoever.
I really don't see how Ariza can improve much, if at all. He's stuck right where he is in my eyes. Laker fans were right. He's nothing more than an okay role player, who can have a few nice games here and there.
That's ridiculous. So if you can't shoot or dribble, you can get the MLE? I think that's a poor standard for the MLE! I think we got one here who just slipped through the cracks... I think the MLE demands a little more than someone who can't shoot or dribble...and I don't trust his d, slashing, or passing if his o isn't there because it's obvious in the game that he wants touches and when he doesn't get them, he's not happy...he's either convinced himself of his new role or somebody else has.
I agree with you, and generally as a poster I agree with what you say. I'm not happy with Ariza by any stretch, all I'm saying is it was a team loss. I blame mgmt and the coaching staff more for giving Ariza such a big role. He would be better served with a role he had with the lakers. If he is not traded( yes I'm more than open to the idea) then I could see him being more productive in a fourth or fifth option, would he be willing to be that option though after the team promised him an increased role?
Iggy and Kevin Martin makes a lot more than Ariza. I'd be the first to criticize Ariza if he makes 10 mil. Right now he only makes half of it. Luther Head had some success slashing to basket with Yao on the floor, Ariza has a lot better ability in that department than Head. So there is hope. One more thing, Ariza's length would make getting Yao the ball in post a lot easier too. Chase would be wonderful playing with Yao.
What? We're getting at least MLE level production out of Trevor even with the whole dribbling with boxing gloves on routine.
ariza's role has been decreasing as the season goes on..sometimes if he passes up a good shot it ruins the possession so i'd rather him shoot. when yao and (freeagent/trade/whatever) return..ariza will fit more comfortably.
No way ! How do you account for Aaron Brooks and Scola and Landry then? They are performing BETTER than our MLE player and for half the price. This team would be better off if Trevor never signed here at all.... More cap room more time to develop CBUd and possibly we would have kept Von Wafer. Trevor is a horrible decision...simply a stinker extrodinaire. Albatrossiza.... DD
What you mean all of them that qualify being better shooters, than last place in the league Ariza? DD
Aside from the written contract, understandings and promises have to go both ways. Trevor also gave us the "understanding" that he would not be the second most hated Rocket EVER.
