I have to say Trevor is very long and gangly. He looked awkward trying to make the pass and did get away with traveling a couple of times. I think he over-thinks what he's going to do instead of moving decisively. Got to practice the fundamentals again and again. It's just his 3rd month in a new role. Give him time. He has already scaled down his 3-point shooting. He's responding to feedback from the coaches. He's gonna help us eventually down the road.
I don't disagree that it was a bad performance by the entire team. We were out rebounded. Brooks wasn't as aggressive as we need him to be, Landry got into foul trouble and there were plenty of bonehead plays. With that said, Ariza had seven turnovers and more than one of those turnovers led to lay ups on the other end. The bad decision making down the stretch was an absolute killer. I appreciate your patience, but tonight was too much for me. The team needs to rein him in before he becomes a lost cause. They aren't doing the man any favors by giving him a constant green light to "create" off the dribble in my opinion.
I hope so, but whenever he has a moderately good shooting game, that means it's six more games of 2-14 type shooting, with 1-7 from three.
hes getting more steals this year, it has nothing to do with legs.... he just needs to minimize his shot attempts
Ariza made his share of mistakes and a ton of turnovers. But he also played a big part in our building the lead in the third quarter, putting up 6 points and 3 assists in that span. Give him some credit for that. The defensive job the Hornets did on Landry was the big reason for this loss. It led to our perimeter players trying to do too much.
Wish I could see Battier's +/- for December and Ariza's. Last month Battier quietly shot the ball better to his usual standard. Rebounded better too. Battier and Scola have the worst 2 +/-'s on the team, go figure. Ariza's is right in the middle. I'm thinking cuz Ariza basically plays the whole game he puts the team in a deficit early, then gets aided when Landry and Lowry come in.
Lately hes looked like me-mac out there. Pound Pound Pound the ball goes into the floor then jack up a three.
RA put him on the bench almost immediately. To a certain degree, Battier did have foult. Hayes was moving to the middle to attract defenders, Battier should stay there instead of follow Hayes, it was a good pass by Ariza in that case. I can understand his frustration. But yes, he shouldn't b**** about it. It's a team game, s**t happens. Maybe he learned that from Kobe.
His being mouthy to guys that are better than him is a problem......he needs to STFU, learn to dribble and stop avoiding contact.... The guy contorts his body every which way to avoid contact when he actually does manage to get to the rim...just explode up through it you Panzy ! DD
I feel like he's getting more steals because he's overplaying the passing lanes a lot of times. Last year, he had such an explosive first jump at the ball. He would basically play behind his man then tip the ball away incredibly quickly. That can be attributed to fresh legs. He may be getting more steals this year, but he's gambling a heck of a lot more too with less effectiveness.
Fine, 11/6/4 with defense on good shooting is good enough for a MLE player. His percentage would go up if he is not asked to do too much.
He is never doing anything to hurt the team. Sure we would like him to do more on offense, but the guy is just staying within his own limitations as a basketball player. I wish Trevor would learn how to do that, maybe he wouldn't be turning it over 7 times....... Doctor of love... DD
I just don't get it when guys say that taking so many shots would push Ariza's development. Do you really think that by taking horrible shots Ariza is developing faster? Bad shots are bad shots, and I don't care if people say "We're not going to make the Playoffs anyway so just let him take these shots". His FG-Percentage is 37.4%, his percentage from the 3-point-line is 31.3% and his FT-percentage is 64.7%. That is just BAD. Ariza needs to figure out what his role is on the court. This role is certainly not being our go-to-guy. Besides that, I still don't know how the ***** we could lose this game. Leading 93-86 and then getting a 0-12 run is just awful.
