Bottom line is Trevor helps ups win and he plays the role the the coach tells him to. When Yao comes back next year he will play the role that suits him the best. At least Trevor has the balls to step out side him self and try to expand his game. Shane had the potential to be alot better then the level he currently plays at but he choose to play it safe. At least when Trevor retires from the game he will be able to say to him self that he gave his best effort and made the most of all his talent.
I loved the fact near the end of the game when Trevor came to get the ball from AB, AB just waived him off. Way to be a leader AB.
i don't think anybody should "hate" trevor. we really only criticize trevor b/c he sucks offensively. there is no way an average NBA player can shoot 37% unless something is wrong.
Theres a difference between more shots due to tempo and just flat out taking bad shots. Ariza is quickly becoming a chucker. Take Battier for example, he is a terrible offensive player, but he is effecient. How? He only shoots in 3 scenarios: wide open three, when he cuts and theres an open lane to the basket, and a post up play when there is a "mouse in the house" There is ZERO reason for Ariza to try and create offense off the dribble when both Lowry AND Brooks are far superior at it than him.
and it's only getting worse. thats the scary thing. there is no signs of any type of improvement other than the occasional breakout game every 10th game or so.
All I know is I trust morey. And Trevor is only 24 and still growing. I never thought that Carl would be as good as he is now but he is. Trevor is younger then Carl and has room to grow. Trevor never had a coach who was about developing talent. He has that now with Rick. Sometimes people forget that Carl has the benefit of having a great coach like rick his whole career.
I'm willing to live with Ariza's poor shooting since his performance doesn't make or break how successful the Rockets as a team are. I just hope this slump is short-term... Ariza is capable of shooting better.
anybody see when scola and ariza both went up for a rebound and scola got it, ariza gave him kind of a dirty look? i did
I've been to 85% of the home games this year. I have yet to go to a game where I haven't yelled one of the following: 1. OH GOD PASS THE BALL TREVOR! 2. PLEASE DON'T DRIVE IT IN ARIZA! 3. ARIZA DON'T SHOOT!! 4. ARIZA SUCKS! Come to think of it I usually say those four things at least once per game. Ariza is absolutely atrocious on offense. Take out Ariza's dunks tonight and he shot 3-12. When will his slump end?
One of them was yelling "same, same same" and then when Ariza let go I saw him sorta flop his arms in frustration because I guess Ariza thinks PF are supposed to give up the ball to guards on rebounds
a slump is usually temporary. this has been a season-long problem. it's not going to end unless he changes his style of play and adelman officially tells him he needs to just stick to a role offensively ala shane.
I'm not too sure about that to be honest. Slumps tend to happen when reality hits you. In other words when teams adjust to you. Teams are easily adjusting to Ariza's offense, and if he can't adapt to this change he will remain like this forever.
Wow, I dont see any Rocket ever wearing number 1 again. Too much baggage with it. Did Ariza take any of you guys' lunch money as a kid? Steal your girlfriend?? Just dont understand it. He doesnt quit, he plays hard, he does what the coach asks of him, he doesnt air his dirty laundry in public, doesnt throw teammates under the bus. Whats to hate? Disappointment and frustration are words I would use to describe most folks attitude towards Ariza. If you have some seething ire pent up inside you over this man there are things more important than basketball that you need to worry about. /end psychoanalysis
what adjustment? doubling him? trapping him? more pressure on him? i don't see very much of that. the problems are with trevor. he can't dribble and create his own shot very well, no matter how hard he has tried or how much opportunities he has had. most players don't have these skills. trevor apparently doesn't have it. the moment he understands that and starts playing COMPLETELY off of others, he'll be better. if not, we will know his true value next year when yao/another star returns/comes here.
