I have grown to HATE how Christian Wood plays basketball.

Personally, I would rate Banchero a tier below Holmgren and Smith, and given a choice, I would not draft him top 2. That being said, if the other two are gone and you can draft him at 3-5, you 100% take him and don't think twice about it. I get the Wood comparison D-Rock is making here, but Banchero is far more ready to compete at the NBA level than Wood was out of college, has a significantly higher ceiling and has skills I think are being overlooked.

Three things jump out to me:
    1. Superior ballhandling and passing skillset
    2. Strength. He's got an NBA player's body already, which should give him an edge over a guy like Wood on the glass, in the paint, etc.
    3. Pure scoring. Wood may be the better perimeter shooter, but Banchero's ceiling a scorer is just much higher. He's more fluid with the ball in his hands, is a better decision maker, is better at getting to the line and when he gets there, is a superior free throw shooter.

And that's before you get to the intangibles piece, where Banchero has a pretty huge advantage. I get the fit argument, but the Rockets aren't in a position to pick guys solely on fit. And if you have to go BPA and take a guy like Banchero, but it means sacrificing Wood and rethinking your young core a bit, you do it in a heartbeat.

    Do not disagree at all.

If Chet or Jabari are gone, Banchero should be the favorite in this scenario.

    Almost overwhelming so.

Then trade Wood for a legit rim protector asap.

You are overvaluing Wood’s trade value. 2 serviceable expiring contracts and a shot at Eason or Williams is not enough? I honestly think Charlotte would want more, because they covet Williams.

Does anybody actually pay attention? Teams won’t even give up late first rounder for Wood…

There aren’t any offers for Wood with a first round pick attached.. Other teams don’t rate him

No, you guys are WAY UNDERESTIMATING a 20-10 guy who shoots 38% from 3pt land and is an excellent finisher at the rim.

Those don't grow on trees, if we had CHET coming then sure let Wood walk, but all he needs is some coaching, some accountability, and for Silas to put in a hierarchy and he is fine.

Wood is not the problem on the team, that narrative has spread for some reason because he brings the ball up some, or takes it away from our better players, but that is easily correctable with good coaching.

Wood is a very good NBA player on a reasonable contract - yes, his effort can wane, but most players have that issue when they KNOW the org is tanking.

Understandable given his inconsistent effort and his tendency to pout and sabotage the team with tantrums.... also why I'd take a second rounder for him just to get rid of him

This isn’t the greatest return for Wood, but I wouldn’t complain. 13 is a way better spot in this draft, Plumee would slot in well as a backup big, but mostly I just love the fit of PJ Washington into a KPJ-Green-Paolo-Sengun core.

Literally every CF account is one of my burners. Even you.

C'mon, I thought everyone knew this.

    lmfao

There is zero chance we get a lottery pick for Christian Wood, let's be honest.

Did you actually read the post? We wouldn’t be “getting” a lottery pick, we’d be moving up from 17 to 13.
