I have grown tired of the Rangers having a better record than us

I still love the Astros schedule vs the Rangers schedule though.

After tonight: Rangers have 41g and Astros have 40.

They play each other 3 times and the Astros need to win 1 to secure the tiebreaker.

They have 14 common games vs common opponents.

Astros other 23 games: 6 vs KC, 4 vs Bos, 3 vs Det, 3 vs NYY, 3 vs SD, 3 vs Bal, 1 vs Ari.

Rangers other 24 games: 7 vs Min, 4 vs Tor, 3 vs Mil, 3 vs NYM, 3 vs Cle, 3 vs LAA, 1 vs Sea.

The Astros play games in 13 consecutive days Friday, then have every Thursday off in September never playing more than 6 games in a row.

After September 7th, the Rangers play 23 games in 24 days to finish the season.

I like the Astros. I just don’t know if I like the Astros by 4 games.

Why can't the best lineup in the AL not hit those loser Angels!

We suck this is not a post season made team!

    1 hit?

This isn't the year. I don't see it in them.

I imagine this is Rangers reaction.

With the Astros win and Rangers loss last night, the Astros now control their own destiny again.

If they sweep the Rangers in the upcoming series and match them w and loss the rest of the season, they win the West.

They have 3 games against each other +

Astros play 19 games against teams w/ winning record, 18 against teams w/ losing record.

Rangers play 26 games against teams w/ winning record and 12 against teams w/ losing record.

So Eovaldi saw one of the main TOS surgeons in Dallas…not a good prognostic sign for his season and career

Is Scherzer currently a half year rental? Does his contract expire this season?

I think he's got a player option for next year iirc.

Not so fast. If the Mariners are already eliminated by that time, the Rangers might be facing a B squad, in which case those will be easy games to win, not hard ones.

Ditto for the other games as well.

Folks have been saying we will overtake the Rangers since May.
    We'll see.

    "I'm a groundskeeper not a pitching coach!"

"Integrity of the game" is still a thing in MLB. If you're out of it, you still play some/most of your best players against the teams who are still in it.

With nothing to play for though, its different.

On another note, if the Mariners really take it to the Rangers, its not out of the question that in the last week of the regular season, Rangers, Astros and Mariners could be all within a game or two.

No, that's what I'm talking about. Down the stretch, if you suck, and are playing someone in a pennant race, you play as many of your best players as you can within reason. This is how it's always been.

If you suck and you're playing a suck, then you should play whoever.

No worries. We'll finish three or four games ahead of Texas.
