Not only that but any team can pick him up for the league minimum this afternoon.

Trevor. Bauer. ?. The hints and rumors could inflect on this timeline. I mean they already all hate us. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

But what caused the burnout? Luhnow and Click seem like very different people to me - Luhnow is a ****ing shark who came from executive consulting while Click seems just like a smart, nerdy guy who loves baseball like every other Fangraphs and BPro writer.

You didn't know? His pitcher whispering skills only work while employed by a franchise based in Texas.

    Luhnow or bust.

I would wear his jersey if he had one.

    Simply a friggin' legend.

At least they finally did the right thing. What a complete embarrassment this was all the way around.

Release Bagwell while you’re at it, Jim.

Wasted so much time because Bagwell was in his corner...

Not sure when I grew tired of Jose Abreu but I'm pretty sure the release won't bring relief. His remaining contract is going to be exhaustive for this season and next...

    Oh, finally!

Abreu's horrible hitting was tough to swallow, but it was made worse by the fact that he did not do any of the small things we as Astro fans were accostumed to seeing from Yuli and the rest of the team prior to his signing (such as run out double plays, play solid defense, score from first with two outs on a double...). It put our front office and coaches in a tough position, since given this guy's track record (you know, back of the baseball card), it was reasonable to expect that he would surely turn it around at some point, and thus justify the big investment. This led to Abreu being given opportunities at the expense of the team, and at the expense of potentially better players.

So here we are, perhaps with a lost season, in some part influenced by this signing. Hopefully this sends shockwaves to the rest of the team and it helps turn the season around. Let's hope it's not too late.

That signing , those types of signings , are the ones that can take a team from competing for in the World Series to barely making the playoffs.

Fortunately, the Astros have young, cheap talent that might offset the wasted money.

Main thing right now is Jose won't continue costing us games. Not only was his play sh1tty, but seems he was dragging down team morale too.
