Is it so farfetched that someone could change? The posters who think he's doing it for the MVP are reaching, man. Dude's pushing 30; he's maturing. He knows that scoring titles and 81 point games won't change the haters, so he's trying to win to prove them wrong. And the only way to win is to make his sorry ass team better, which he has done.

Best player in the game today...don't give a **** about his personal life.

Kobe sux, and the refs treat him like a god. I can't stand him.

Now, if he were on the Rocks...

Are you sure you are talking about Kobe or D-Whistle?

It's not far fetched. Then again, what else is there to do after you have

Screwed over your best chance for a ring in Shaq

Screwed over the one coach the team begged to come back in Phil

Chucked to your hearts content and realized you aren't enough to win.

Threw a tantrum in game 7 of the 1st round when the team needed you.

Got everything you wanted from a butt kisser GM

Get accolades for doing nothing that hasnt been done or done better by your peers.

We might as well call him the greatest ever while we're at it.

Who else could miss the playoffs, then get bounced in the 1st round, and his homer fanatics find excuses for it, while giving him credit for a less than top 3 MVP candidacy.

Do I think there is a better guard in the game today? Nope, Kobe is it.

Do I think he's the best team player and MVP, no.

Do I think he's the best of this generation? Not even close.

Essentially without Shaq again, he has done nothing short of what his peers have already done with the exception of landing a scoring title by taking over 200 more shots than the 2nd leading scorer by 2 points per game.

I probably should clarify something: my respect is for Kobe's maturity as a player and a teammate (IMO, of course) this season, but I admit I am still not enamored with his personality and I still think he's a phony, but that shouldn't cloud my -- or your -- judgement of him as a player.

I am talking strictly basketball-related here...

    :D

Sorry to disappoint, Manny. But if it makes you feel better, we're all aliens...

Kobe is great. People have bashed me for years. (I was banned for an argument that took place over a couple of years back involving Kobe Vs T-Mac on this very forum...)

Hell, my pit is named Kobe... and he is turning 7 years old soon...

Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming are the best players in the NBA IMO. Passion and killer instinct combined with ultimate skill. And they actually want to improve on a few aspects of their game every season.

Scary thing is, they are still improving...

I was gonna type all his accomplishments that I could remember off my head, but when I checked Wikipedia, I remembered you can't post that much text.

    Yeah, Kobe sucks.

Please don't say the name of your pit in the same sentence with Yao Ming. Blasphemy!

Actually, I think Kobe cares a lot. Otherwise, he wouldn't push himself so hard. For every Kobe, there's a dozen Miners and Riders. I've got to give him props for his drive.

exactly. I definitely agree there are phonie things about him. the way he tries to emulate everything about jordan, including the walk and the way he speaks. but you have to respect his drive. trying to be the best is selfish. wanting to have a great legacy is selfish, but if you go about it being a good teamate who cares. kobe has been a good teamate so far this year. you don't have to like him, but you have to respect. he apparently has learned something. and when lamar gets back, this the laker will be a legit contender again. especially if bynum continues his development.

I don't think Kobe raped that woman, but because she was white (I don't want to make this into a race thread) I believe he gets more hate than he should.
