I just got a Laptop and I tried to install Windows 98 because the Laptop doesn't have a OS. But the Laptop's hard drive letter is Q. How do I change it to c:\ using DOS or another non-Operating System software?

It's been a while since I've worked with 98, but I think you can change the disk drive letter designation and partition your hard drive by running the "FDisk" tool on dos prompt.

Yeah, I have XP, but it's the upgrade so I have to put 98 in first.

actually, if you have the xp upgrade cd and you want to install xp, just pop it in. it'll look for a previously installed OS, then ask you for your windows 98 cd to verify that you're upgrading and that's it. You don't have to actually install the windows 98 OS.
