You know I would agree with you except the author of this thread implied that the reason why we would trade Nachbar, a guy who is very excited to be a Rocket, is because we "owe it to" Rashard Lewis.

Can you not see how ridiculous that is?? I mean if we really think about people that the Rockets "owe it to", then I doubt very seriously that Olajuwon would be with the Raptors right now. No, instead the Rockets "owe it to" Hakeem to sign him to a 5 year deal worth 7 to 8 million dollars a year.

I didn't flame him at all, I just took exception to him saying that the Rockets owed Rashard something, and having a feeling the Rockets would trade for him because they owed him something. That's silly, they don't owe Rashard anything. I can't speak for the others though, I'm assuming he touched a raw nerve with them somewhere along the way. It happens. This idea that the Rockets "made a mistake passing on Rashard, and have to atone for the mistake and trade for him, because the Rockets owe him" is silly. The only reason people think this way is because Rashard is from Houston.

I would trade KT and Rice for Lewis and a future 2nd pick though.

Love Rashard Lewis, but signing him to the max would be a mistake. We still have Steve to sign to the max and eventually im sure Yao will demand a big contract.
maybe lewis would take a little pay cut to come home though. I would be down wiht dealing Nachbar and someone for him.

I dislike the idea that you could possibly need a consistent role player more than a super star (though I don't think Lewis will ever be the latter). Yes, consistent role players are nice. Super stars are better.

And don't point to the Blazers. They're a collection of aging misfit malcontents. Rather, look at the 86 Celtics or the 80's Lakers. Most of those guys could have starred for other teams.
