Just got a notice that mine is going from $380 to $420. They've added 2 new neighborhoods, made absolutely no improvements, have barely been able to maintain what we've got, and now they want more money. Hopefully, this will be the last payment they get from me. We're putting our house on the market in Feb.

I don't have any of those amenities, the city hauls my garbage away and despite having lived here over two years, I've yet to receive the "handbook" of rules for the HOA and judging by the way some people on the next street over keep their yards, whatever the rules are, they can't possibly be too strict.

So, basically, I pay for nothing. Thankfully, it's a very small amount (though any amount for nothing seems like a waste).

This is, by the way, the first time I've ever lived in the neighborhood with an HOA, and it's actually the most unkempt looking neighborhood I've ever lived in. I'm not sure HOAs are the sole thin blue line that keeps every neighborhood from descending into chaos.
