I'm sure there is some legal recourse. I was referring to the Lemon Law itself.

I probably will consult with an attorney next week assuming that we don't find a part before then. All I want is my A/C fixed so I can sell the freaking car at this point. I hate that it apparently has to become such a huge production just to get a $500 part.

And if there is anyone out there with a connection to Audi in any way, the part I need is part#8D0260701AF, so if any of you guys run across that part, I'd appreciate a heads-up. Thanks. [IMG]

Have you considered calling Audi in Germany. Maybe you could buy the part from them and just pay for them to ship it to you. Cut out the middle man.

So why can't you just rig on some hoses from another make/model and sell it before they find out?

My mechanic (not an Audi dealer) is going to try and rig something tomorrow, but considering that the hoses are right under the nose, any cursory glance is going to tip off all but the most casual observer that it's a rig job (if we can even get it to work).

I thought about that today. I looked for the telephone number, but haven't found one yet. Audi's Worldwide website is conveniently down at present (and I'm not sure the number is even on there. It's not in any of the owner's manuals).

mrpaige -- Something that MAY produce some sort of results (My father has done it a few times and it's always fixed a situation) is to write a letter to the CEO. Then FedEx it so he has to sign for it. We had a problem with DSL, wrote to CEO, no problems since. Maybe he can get the parts mailed to you or something.

Ahem...sorry about all that trouble. Must be an Audi AMERICA problem [IMG], because here, they do not have a reputation as being faulty or something...I have just looked at the Audi website, but could not find anything that would help you...will look again later. I would really consider calling them here if I was you...and yes, I think you should get yourself a lawyer, because that really sounds ridiculous.

I actually found a Audi, AG telephone number in Germany, but I don't know how to make international calls, so I gave up on that.

I don't think my constant response of "It's because I'm a Jew, isn't it?" when anyone refuses to help me is helping, either.

I already filled out a complaint form for the Attorney General. And I filled out a complaint at the BBB. I also contacted a friend of the family (who also happens to be a Congressman).

I wrote a letter to Gerd Klauss, the head of VW of America today, but I didn't get a chance to FedEx it to him yet. I'll do that in the morning.

I'll also talk to the rabble-rouser attorney I know tomorrow.

International calls aren't too hard, as long as you can understand what they're saying on the other end. [IMG]

For Germany, dial 011 + 49 (Germany's country code) + the German number.

However, most (if not all) German toll-free numbers (like, say, 0800 AUDI SERVICE) can't be dialed from outside of Germany. I think 0800 and 0130 are the toll-free "area codes" there.

Good luck in getting a satisfactory resolution you your problems (if that's still possible)!

    mrpaige,

Sometimes it's the little things.... [IMG]

I was reading along, getting angry over a car I will never own, and that little tidbit just had me laughing. It sounds like something I would say (not the exact words, but something to garner the same reaction).

UPDATE: The part I need is also completely unavailable in Canada. They gave the standard backorder response: "It will be at least 10 days", but they didn't have an actual import date for these parts.

Audi's defense probably is that they plan to eventually start importing these parts again. But the fact now remains that they have no concrete plans as to when they would ever make this part available to purchase again.

mrpaige, I used to have a connection to a junk yard in Houston called Bingle auto supply on Bingle road. The guys I used to deal with are Tony & Danny. I don't have a # or anything, but try information. They could locate almost anything, real pros @ what they did. Just trying to help.

    MARVIN ZINDLER EYEWITNEES NEWS

How shocked and down right frightened would the head of VW in GERMANY be when the Freak showed up at his office? They might send you a new car.

In all seriousness, you may want to try one of the TV station people like Wayne Delcifino, et al… I emailed them awhile back over a tow truck incident and all 3 stations replied to me via phone and email within 72 hours.

I have a 99 Audi S4 and a 2001 Audi TT Roadster 225 and both cars run absolutely perfect. I will never ever buy Japanese or American (LOL) cars again. No one compares to the style of Audi.

I would *strongly* recommend taking your car to Don Mcgil Audi on I-10 and talk to Mark, their service manager -- he will take care of you.

Also, the best Audi enthusiast site is http://www.audiworld.com and they run an A4 forum that is surprisingly busier than Clutchcity's forums.

What about the poor guy who's only owned his Audi for 2 years and can't get it repaired? Should he like the "style", too? lol. I don't care if the company is American, Japanese, German, or Martian -- if they did something like this to me, I'd say "screw 'em". And they can stick their style up their exhaust.

Don McGill is a bit far since I'm in Arlington, but I called them and they don't have the part I need, either. There are two dealerships in the entire country that have the part. Neither will sell the part to me. Therefore, I cannot get the car repaired. Don McGill can't get Audi to import parts any faster than Audi of America can. And Audi of America flat out refuses. Unless Don McGill is manufacturing the part on their own or is willing to pull the parts off a new car on their lot, they cannot help me anymore than any other dealer can.

I'd also like to point out that my A4 ran almost perfectly for the first 50,000 miles or so. It was until I passed that point that the extremely expensive problems started. Other than a broken bushing (which took six weeks to fix, by the way. Four weeks waiting to get in for service at Park Place in Dallas, and another nearly two weeks to get the parts in and get it repaired).

Since passing the 50,000 mile mark (which also is when the warranty expired), it's been a constant headache with thousands of dollars of things going wrong and waits of months on end for replacement parts. Audi of America also doesn't care anymore. They specifically told me that they would not help me to get the part I need (even though they are the only ones who can get the part since no one but Audi makes it and there are none in the U.S. or Canada at present).

The fact that they flat-out refuse to make replacement parts available is crap. Just hope and pray that your air conditioner doesn't go out because you aren't getting it fixed anytime soon. The parts to fix it do not exist in the United States or Canada and who knows when they ever will be available again.

Even if we're talking about problems caused by the driver (road hazard or a wreck or something), Audi won't let the car be repaired because they refuse to import enough parts to service the fleet of current-model cars on the road. What kind of attitude is that to have? Why make it so that a person cannot buy the $500 replacement parts necessary to make the car functional again. Even if the failure is on the part of the driver, it's still up to the company to make parts available for repair.

It's not like I'm asking for Audi to pay for the repair. I just want to be able to buy the hoses required to fix my air conditioner. Audi says no, and refuses to import that part. They've told me the first one off the boat is mine, but they have yet to even decide that there will be a boat coming.
