Despite being sloppy at times, the Rockets look *so* much better without TSlack and Airballston in the lineup.
i was happy when Tmac decided to finally call it a year cuz we are WAY better right now without him great win, Yao was good, Artest was physical with the opponent, although that Barea guy was kinda annoying Brooks was awesome!
The amusing thing is that there seems to be people angrier that the Rockets PGs are playing after trading Alston then happy that we are getting good guard play from young PGs. People are hung up on Alston, as if the guy is an All-Star, All-NBA point guard. He was a decent guard who did nice things for us. Alston is a high-energy, very good shooting, and very good passing PG who is cold-blooded when it comes to taking big shots.
Freudian slip? Look I like Brooks as much as anyone, but he's not without fault either. How many fast breaks tonight were there when he should've passed and instead got blocked or took a dumb shot. Three? Four? He is quick, but it seemed like the mavpricks just took their gambles that he would take the layup and it worked for them. He is a good shooter and is quick. I don't like how much he turns it over.
You do not change point guards this close to the playoffs if you really care about this year.. Lowry is a quality player, but it was obvious on defense he had no idea what to do. These are growing pains that are not his fault at all, but they take time to iron out.
Today wasn`t a really good game... the team played great in stretches and then really sloppy again. If we`d played a better team we`d have lost. I think we have to get used to one thing with this team: you will never know what you`re gonna get. Scola is consisten, Battier is consistent, and Yao is kinda consistent... but the young guns around Brooks, Lowry, Wafer, Landry and the not so young Artest can light it up one night and completely disappear the next. But still it will be fun watching.
The Rockets were going no where in the playoffs without Tracy and with Rafer as our starting PG. The Rockets didn't throw away the season, they took a gamble to salvage this season. Brooks can win (or lose) you a game or two in the playoffs. Rafer cannot do that.
Playoff or not is yet to be seen. But we do have a much entertaining and thrilling game: from down 16 to winning a playoff-level Mavs team through clutch moment great shots instead of heartbreaking games losing to scrub teams through bad shots. We can see that the current Rox has both offense and defense kicking and they are improving. I am looking forward to watching more games like this one, go Rox!
Nah, just try to imagine a team with JVG after a TMac-esque implosion and find out your onlt "true" & "vet" pg gets traded away when he's been busy rallying the troops after the ASB. AB & Lowry deserve high praise for tonight, but this was a train-wreck win and as happy as I am I see us struggling for awhile. The only good thing about the Mavs is after they jump you, simple math catches up with them, and Dirk missed a lot of open shots tonight that is abnormal. Still, we all want to give Lowry a hug.
What game were you watching? Lowry was like a glove on defense. I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see with we have a defensive minded slasher for a PG
Dirk missed a lot of shots because great defense was played on him. Come on, there were a lot of turnovers granted, but the defense was there tonight. That's what won the game tonight.
haha, who would've guessed that the same morons that declared our season was over would be claiming this is a great trade after one win? I guessed it. This is not directed at the thread starter, but I already see some familiar names claiming this is a great trade, after jumping off the bandwagon just yesterday. Rockets fans can make me sick sometimes. I'll be with us through and through.
Fair enough, but the only thing I saw tonight was hustle, heart with sporadic (to be expected) offense and defense. Great for the future, I'm far from sure about now. I didn't mean to be a bummer.
you really didn't see great defense throughout the game? That was what brought the Rockets back into the game from what I saw.
