Fishing near Galveston when I was around 10, I went to take a sip out of my can of Coke, and felt something on my lips...pulled back, and two bees flew out. I've still never been stung.
When I was 9 at a Sunday school picnic at George Ranch there was only one table that was under the shade for lunch. When I went to go sit down, I started to swing my legs.. next thing I knew I was being stung by the whole nest, at least 40 stings EVERYWHERE.. Since then I have been terrified of any bee or wasp. I even had nightmares of that day for a while.
Wow, that's horrible. I'd be a bee/wasp killing mother if that happened. As it is, I don't go out of my way too much to kill them. I do see some nests hanging in the corners of the soffit around my house. I also see ones made of mud. Are they from the same type?
There was a wasp nest underground beneath the soil in front of my old house many years ago. Kids with play with them by poking the holes with a stick and eventually two of the kids got stung. Those things will fly after you when you start running. Anyway my uncle made a bottle bomb then stick it into the hole, lit it...and watch them get blown To smithereens. That was the end of it and the kids celebrate.
If you get stung, make a past out of baking soda and water and rub it on the sting. usually helps with pain pretty quickly.
Was stung once in the chest when I was kid, and been afraid of them ever since. Wasps and Lightning...those are my two phobias.
Never been stung by any type of bee or wasp, and I'm 31. For that reason I am deathly afraid of them. I will literally start screaming if I see one anywhere near me.
Completely forgot about this one... On the corner of my lot there are some decorative palm-type bushes. I was mowing my lawn two weeks ago and when I got within five feet of them, bees started pouring out of one of the palm bushes- turns out that they had recently built a hive there. I took off running. I came back to get my mower, and they weren't aggressive at all (although they were agitated). I didn't get a sting. I mowed the rest of the yard. Now there's a chunk of un-mowed grass on the street corner of my lot. Anyone ever take out a bee hive? Suggestions? I was thinking of putting a tarp over the bushes at night and throwing a couple of bug foggers in.
This is how you take out a hive: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ibnHGWR9pU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ibnHGWR9pU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I got stung like a few weeks ago. I feel your pain lol. You can try using baking soda to neutralize the venom. But I was kinda lazy so I just waited it out. Took like a few days before my leg was back to normal
