I can't stand that song they play in their commercial. Pretty much that song alone singlehandedly made me dislike a game I've never even played! Oh, about FIFA08.. Has anyone heard of that Winning Eleven 2008 game? I forget the exact name (I think PES 08). When is the release date for that game and how do they compare? I love soccer games.
Uncharted, R & C, and Warhawk would be the first major games on my list. Also get it online and goto the PSN. Super Stardust HD or Everyday Shooter are great (you don't need both). I just got High Velocity Bowling a few days ago and enjoy it. It's the fist "Wii-like" game I've played on the PS3, and it plays your mp3s while playing (nothing like the Big Lebowski soundtrack playing while you bowl). All 3 of those games are only $10.
I commented a little bit about it in the November thread. Basically, I really liked the graphics (of course). Pretty much every mission was intense with a lot of tension, making the gameplay a lot better (no slow parts). Some of the use of the 1st-person camera, combined with the amazing graphics, created some powerful moments in the game IMO (can't really get into w/o spoilers...although it isn't like I'm spoiling Bioshock or anything). Didn't really care for the story. Seemed like the basic terrorist story you see in other games, books, movies, etc. I found myself not really caring that much (didn't even know what was going on half the time). It seemed like I was just going from place to place, killing and destroying as much as I could. This probably would have bored me to death had the game been longer, but I was able to beat it in about 4 hours. Not really a legitimate complaint, but after playing BioShock, Resistance, Half-Life, UT, etc., the guns in this game seemed really boring. But like I said, I can't really complain about this given the setting of the game. I certainly wouldn't buy the game if you're not interested in online play. But I would probably recommend renting it. It is far from being the most enjoyable FPS single-player campaign I've played, but there are a few things Infinity Ward did a great job of doing in COD4 that should be appreciated by everyone (assuming you like FPS games anyway).
That's a terrible list. But it does remind me of a game I forgot to mention: Oblivion. Of course, the reason I forgot about it was because I played it for 360, but obviously it doesn't matter much what system you play it on. Great game either way.
Are you serious? For the 360 version at least, load times were nonexistent outside of fast-travel, and to me that wasn't a big deal...
Nice gift...We get $45 GC's to Honey Baked Ham co....Well, we did go to Nick and Sam's for our xmas party...Let me tell you, it is the best steak (16oz Prime Ribeye) i've EVER had...Would highly recommend this place for those in Dallas...mmmm.... As for games, Tiger woods is always fun, Rock Band or GH III...I have Virtual Tennis, but haven't played it yet...I like the NBA 2K series...Always fun...
Like I said, it can't really be a valid complaint given the type of game COD4 is (compared to those others), but it is basically what I was feeling when I was playing the game. Maybe I shouldn't have checked out that video of the weapons in Turok 1 before playing COD4.
Will they ever have another Prince of Persia? That game was a classic. If not, what "Prince of Persia" type games are out there?
Yes, there will be a next-gen PoP. It was leaked a while back due to a terrible mistake by Ubisoft. Assassin's Creed is somewhat like PoP from what I understand. I want to say the PoP team worked on it, but I'm not 100% sure about that (may just be part of the team). I'm not very familiar with the Ubisoft development teams. You may have needed to clean out the cache on the 360 HDD. I seem to recall there being an issue with Oblivion involving this, although I might be wrong. I didn't really have any issues with loading times FWIW (played on PC though). BTW, I sort of want to change my earlier comment about Lair. After forcing myself to finish it, I think you should rent it...but only after you have already played practically every game listed in this thread (and any good games released after you play those), and if you have an incredible amount of patience for getting a bit enjoyment out of a very frustrating game.
2K8 Resistance Fall of Man (suck it up and live with the motion sickness.... its worth it) Rock Band/Guitar Hero
I made the decision today to get Rock Band after Christmas. I'm looking forward to having the family play together.
Actually that is first on my list. i am waiting until I get my new HDTV in March before I get any movies though.
Have you tried the motion sickness wristbands? They don't look like much, but I have a friend that gets motion sickness on almost anything (boat, plane, backseat of a car). If he wears those goofy-looking wristbands, he has no problem whatsoever.
I'm the same way. I can't play FPS games at all because of it and have thought about trying the wrist bands. I may pick some up when I get back into town.
