BCG vaccine wears off til your're about 20 years old, so even having the vaccine when you were born (which is what most east asians get) is irrelevant when you're an adult. Either way, if you did test positive (>15mm for normal people), you should've gotten a chest x-ray to make sure you don't have an active infection, but then again you probably already did since your doc said you have latent tb. INH for 6 months is for prophylaxis to prevent you from getting the active infection.

That 9 month regimen is only for active TB.

Same thing happened to me last year. I took Isoniazid and vitamin b6 too, but thing was, my doctor didn't want me to take urine tests every month. My dad, who is also a doctor, was skeptical/careful about it, since with his patients, he usually runs monthly tests. So he had me do that, and behold, the INH level in my liver was getting too high, and it was potentially dangerous. Dad told me to stop taking them, so I quit after 2-3 months.

Just look out for that I guess, but otherwise, the whole thing isn't a big deal, and no you won't spread it.

Thank you very much for the reply. When I was at the doctor's office today I was too busy being worry I forgot to ask him all these questions. My main concern is not about my health but rather am I going to spread the disease to my love ones or not. After reading your reply and the rest of the fellas in this thread it really made me feel a lot better.

There wasn't any alternate meds he could prescribe for you?

Well you can use Rifampin for 4 months, but generally the standard is 6-9 months of INH.

Cool thing about rifampin is that its side effect makes your pee turn orange.
