Saving the franchise? Are you nuts?

How is losing your draft picks for the next few years saving the franchise?

TWolves would need to get several decent 1st round picks to replace those that got taken away. Cap space doesn't mean that much to Minnesota as it would to a team with a better climate such as Miami.

Also, Dream would have to be agreeable to such a trade and I don't see him accepting this one.

    fadeaway,

Saving the franchise by NOT wrapping up almost 90-100 million in a mediocre PF. For further proof, see Juwan Howard. The Wizards can't give this guy away, namely due to his contract. If the NBA REALLY wanted to punish the Wolves, they would have made them honor their "agreement" with Smith, along with the draft pick penalty.

And let's not act as if those were going to be fantastic picks. If the Wolves continue at their current pace, those are probably mid to late 1st round picks they're losing. True, it still hurts, but I don't think the franchise will fall apart because of them. Finley, Cassell, Spreewell, and even KT are all late 1st round picks, true, but they are all also exceptions to the rule.

And now there are rumors that because the organization, namely Taylor and McHale, have been so honest about the situation and will accept suspensions, the NBA may return 2 or more of those picks. Either way, the situation still doesn't merit trading away one of the best in the league.

For one Hakeem is not going anywhere. If he truly wanted out he would wait till next year. Secondly no way in hell does Minnesota trade Kevin Garnett. He is their franchise and is called the Big Ticket for a reason. Also the Wolves have a decent center in Nesterovic who is decent. Also we'd have wayyy to many power forwards. It just doesnt make sense for any team.
