Bingo!!...and what a day. More of the same ole same old wasn't going to lead this team to elite status. With the rare exception (this year) of Detroit, superstars lead their teams to championships. Yao will be there one day, and TMac is already there. But I've seen enough to believe that Francis simply has too many deficiences in his game to become a truly elite player. Gotta take risks to improve and I love our first move. With our TE l look for more moves to rework our supporting cast. Whatever it is, it ain't boring. D R
No, I don't think it's fair to put Cato and Cat under the same "same old boneheaded mistakes, no improvement, same as their first year" performance lable, as Steve. Cato, ended up being the MAJORAL reason for our great interior defense this past season. Cat, ended up taking less jacked up shots, playing more within the team, and playing very good defense, VERY good defense when you consider his previous years all in one year. He definitely showed improvement. Those two offered to the Rocket's getting into the playoffs, A LOT more than Steve did. So yeah, can't put them all in the same boat.
Imagine when Gundy calls him Tracy instead of T-Mac?? That got Doc Rivers in trouble. Told everyone his name is T-Mac. Not Tracy.
don't you think that T-mac and JVG have thought about this BEFORE doing this deal its not like the Magic and ROx front offices are working this trade in a vaccum
Pippen whined about his role on a WINNING team. TMac whines about the team not having enough talent to win. Pippen already had 6 rings. TMac is hungry for one. Pippen had been tired of being a sidekick for life. TMac has been tired of shouldering the team. Pippen was over-the-hill. TMac just started his prime. Pippen had two other over-the-hill big ego HOFers on the team. TMac has one other HOFer in the making who appears to be very humble. Totally different.
When have we ever heard JVG have problems getting along with his players -- even Stevie? They worked thru their issues well enough not to 'have' to be divorced.
There are legit concern's on McGrady's character, if the Rockets get the same McGrady from year's passed they WON'T improve. Don't need the same guy that led his team to 19 straight losses, the guy who quit on his team and only cared about a scoring title from December on. The same guy who refused to pass the ball against the Pistons in the playoffs, even though that was the only way they would beat them. We better hope he changes his attitude, if he doesn't this trade will drive Yao to LA once his contract runs out.
The trade is an acknowledgement that TMac is better. The trade is an acknowledgement that SF was not the player (not person, player) for the JVG Rox.
Wrong. The Magic thought Hill and Duncan were the answer. They got Hill and lost Duncan, so McGrady was a backup plan. Even then they thought he would just be a Pippen to Hill's Jordan. At worst, the Rocket's situation will stay the same - with a star talent who does not mesh well with the team/coach. At best, the Rockets will be contenders for many years. What is there to really fear?
I don't remember anyone ever saying that Pippen was over the hill when he got here. He was like 34 years old and was known for his conditioning and exercise regimen. Nobody complained about his age. We all fell for it. I am leery now. Like I was with M. Taylor when he was signed. Character is an issue. But look how Wallace turned out in Detroit. So as usually is the case 84 percent of the time, I may be wrong.
