Can we get a media source a little less biased than Rush to confirm that? Even if its true, that doesn't mean anything. So second graders might be smarter than these 19,000 people who double-voted. Don't the inept get to vote the same as the rest of us? Fortunately or unfortunately, there's no poll test. ------------------
"Buchanan did, however, get more than 8,000 votes in Palm Beach County in the 1996 Republican primary, compared with about 3,000 in the election Tuesday, according to the Florida Division of Elections. " Buchanan actually got closer to 9000 votes in the 1996 presidential primary in Palm Beach ... BUT Buchanan also got 5% of the popular vote in the 1996 presidential election AND, in 1996 other counties had high votes for Buchanan. In that election Palm Beach was only 5% of his base. In this one, supposedly Palm Beach is 20% of his base. So, I guess there's a misconstruing of facts on both sides. ------------------ Brought to you by the letter M. Where is Clinton??? Hello Dirk Digler...eeeeeeerrrrrrr Mr. President, do you think you can take a break for a moment and say a few words about the country for which you are in charge? ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
McGee's ballot was on one page instead of two, with no split or line down the middle like the Palm Beach ballot. McGee's ballot also had large arrows pointing from the name of the character to the corresponding box. The Palm Beach ballot arrows were smaller. I don't get it. Then it's not the same. It's just a ballot. ------------------ Brought to you by the letter M.
I didn’t question your “honesty”, I just pointed out that you’re full of $#!+! From TheFreak’s source: "Buchanan did, however, get more than 8,000 votes in Palm Beach County in the 1996 Republican primary, compared with about 3,000 in the election Tuesday, according to the Florida Division of Elections. " Notice, the Republican Primary is not the general election like you claim. I imagine a large number of those 8,000 registered Republicans voted for Bush this year. Your little factoid doesn’t say a thing about the Independent voters. What is your point?! Buchanan does not support a re-vote either! If he really hated Bush like you assert, wouldn’t he want a re-vote? Another question, what makes you think he likes Gore anymore than Bush? Do you realize that you and Dubya’s campaign staff are quite possibly the only people in America that believe that those votes belonged to Buchanan? Not even Buchanan himself believes they are his? Heck, I’m sure that even Dubya himself doesn’t believe that Buchanan was supposed to get all those votes, but he can’t admit that to the public now can he? There you go with the lame “STUPID” people argument. This doesn’t hold much water coming from someone that won’t believe that Palm Beach county isn't a Buchanan stronghold. Anyway, are you too naive to believe that 19,000 ballots don’t matter in an election that was decided by a little over 300 votes? “Mr. Smart Man”? What kind of insult is that supposed to be? Are you even old enough to vote? As for people in Florida, many of them want a call to action. People have a right to protest and to hire lawyers. If you don’t like that, then you’re in the wrong country. Anyway, I'm not even going to try to convince you that we need a re-vote anymore? Instead, I would just like you to admit that Buchanan was not supposed to get 3400 votes in Plam Beach County. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Launch Pad (edited November 10, 2000).]
I personally dont think anything should be done about the 19,000 ballots because this happens every election, in counties across the country. Why should it make a difference now? To say it doesnt matter in other elections becuase they arent close seems illogical to me. At one time youre trying to argue that these votes deserve to be counted because every person deserves the right to vote and have their voice heard yet it only counts now and if an election isnt close then it doesnt matter anyway. That just sounds kinda hypocritical to me. As far as the 3200 people who voted wrong, something definitely is wrong there, but the degree and the exten I dont know and dont beleive what either party says. But I am also on the side that a revote is not the right answer. ------------------ Remember.... You are not really drunk until you must hold on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.
