I noticed Yao was subbed around the 9:30 mark of the 3rd quarter. I couldn't understand why JVG did this especially since Yao only had 1 foul. I doubt that he was tired as they just got out of halftime. Other than that I don't think coaching was the problem and besides the bad call at the end and calling everything for KG, the refs were fair.

The 3rd quarter substition was a perfect move. Did you see what Yao was doing? He was worn out after 2 sprints up and down the court. I bet JVG was dissapointed considering that they just came out of the half time break. Yao was obvious gassed after 3 minutes in the 3rd to the point that he almost slumped to the floor during those sprints. I barely noticed this because he was quickly out of the camera view but my suspision was confirmed when JVG subbed him out.

Adymoon, I agree with you take 99%.

Whoa! Was this a designed play for Boki? I would have thought JVG would have drawn up a play for Ward or Jackson, not Boki.

Yeah, I think he has to fight so hard just to establish position in the post that he gets worn out fast especially when they can't get him the ball initially and have to swing it to the other end and he has to re-establish himself to the other side. I wish Yao could run the floor better and do what Shaq and ZO used to be real good at. They would run down and beat the opposing center at the other end and camp right under the basket where they are unstopable once they get the ball. I wish Ewing would coach Yao to do this. At his size, he works way too hard to get shots, he should easily be able to get 10 points a game on layups.

The ball was headed out of bounds, Nachbar established possession of the ball and threw it backwards, underhanded, high into the air, so the shot clock needed to be started when Cassell (or maybe it was Hudson) caught it, instead of when it was rebounded.

Once T-Mac gets back, he will. Yao's been getting a couple of easy buckets a game so far off of Mcgrady's penetration. And I only expect that to increase as they get more comfortable with each other. I mean I remember Yao botching a bullet pass from T-mac because he wasn't expecting it at all.

There was one play where the ball was thrown away by the wolves and he didn't know that the wolves through the ball away and he hustled all the way down the court and grabbed the ball going out of bounds trying to save it to JJ because he thought the rockets had touched it....but in fact they hadn't....even JJ was really pissed at him during that play....

That's the only real bad play i remember him making.

Also with Weatherspoon coming in, it gave us a lot better rebounder and fighter in the trenches...other than yao being tired he was having a good game under the boards and hustling.
