This question might have already been answered, but in the event that we get the first pick in the draft can we or can we not trade it? I think that the Clips would give up Odom for Jason Williams or maybe evn Wagner. Williams gives them a better scoring and passing point (which is what this very talented team needs with Odom, Miles, Richardson, Maggette, Brand, and Dooling). This deal makes sense to me and gives Sterling what he wants (the only problem is re-signing Steve and Lamar in the same offseason).
I don't really see the signings of Odom and Francis as a problem, Les Alexander is the kind of owner who will spend to win. Especially if its a great young nucleus like the one we're dreamcasting about.
Now, this is the most reasonable post I've seen in this thread. To answer your question, a team can't trade their own #1 pick away two consecutive years in a row. Since we owe Memphis our #1 pick this year or next, then we can't trade this year's pick. However, if we were to get a top 3 pick & Williams or Wagner were still on the board when we picked, we could draft the one that the Clippers wanted & trade his rights to them, along with the necessary player or players to get the deal done. Now, the question is, does Sterling really want to trade Odom or not?
lamar makes a lot less walt so that won't work. (i still rather have Shard tho) Houston trades: first round pick in 2002 draft to LAC Houston trades: Kenny Thomas $946,920 to L.A. Clippers Houston trades: Terence Morris $490,000 to L.A. Clippers Houston trades: Jason Collier $1,280,040 to L.A. Clippers TOTAL: $2,716,960 L.A. Clippers trades: Lamar Odom $2,812,320 to Houston TOTAL: $2,812,320 TRADE ACCEPTED
Odom does seem to be playing poorly this year. Anyone know why? Maybe, just maybe we could get him for slightly less than he's worth.
I know this wouldn't happen, but it would be sooooo coooool. We would also give them the rights to which ever one, of Williams or Wagner, they wanted us to draft for them. The salaries would be a little different next year, but the deal would still work. Ahhhhh, it sure is nice to dream. Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to L.A. Clippers TOTAL: $6,048,000 L.A. Clippers trades: Michael Olowokandi $4,662,472 to Houston TOTAL: $4,662,472 TRADE ACCEPTED
I have come to the conclusion that: -I'm on UT Baller's ignore list or -He doesn't read the whole thread From earlier in the thread, by me... I mentioned something about this earlier, but I forgot something-We also have the rights to the Toronto pick. Since that is due this year as long as it's not a lotto, I think we CAN in fact trade our pick, or the Toronto pick, but not both. Relativist-I've heard he's having trouble fitting in with Elton Brand. I think most deals involving Odom would have to be 3-ways.
Oops, I meant to propose this trade instead. Then we throw in the rights to Williams or Wagner. Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to L.A. Clippers Houston trades: Jason Collier $1,280,040 to L.A. Clippers TOTAL: $7,328,040 L.A. Clippers trades: Lamar Odom $2,812,320 to Houston L.A. Clippers trades: Michael Olowokandi $4,662,472 to Houston TOTAL: $7,474,792 TRADE ACCEPTED
Nike- I must have just skipped that while I was reading, sorry. But won't we have to give Vancouver tha Toronto pick to satisfy the trade for Steve? With that one going to Van we would then have to use our pick (maybe with the understanding that the player would be moved).
It should be an idiot Anyway, it works for Cuban because of his deep pockets... No matter how much attention he takes away from the players, he gives them so much it works. Plus, there is no book on being an owner. If I somehow bought the Rockets, you're damn sure I'd like to sit down on the bench a few times and complain when I felt we were being screwed by the officials. As for Lamar Odom, the 1 problem I have with him is his dismal 18% 3pt shooting percentage (although its been above 30% his first two years). That being said, I can see why outlaw would prefer a Rashard Lewis, who in my mind is a better shooter, but maybe not as good at other aspects of the game. Interestingly, KT's stats are better than Odom's in every category except assists and steals. It is Odom's amazing passing ability that I like and hope the Rockets could incorporate into their offense. Plus, he is a good defender. A deal could get done, but anything involving Cato is highly unlikely considering Sterling is trying to save money...not throw it away...Then again, if that Indiana/GS deal was actually discussed, anything is possible.
