You don't think that all of this is a little bit trivial, when you look at all of the good deeds he's done throughout his career? Because that's how I'm sort of inclined to think...
So basketball-related stuff? I can understand that. I think the Q, however, was how could anyone know what Shaq does outside of basketball and not like him? I think it's pure envy/hatred for all the punishment he's exacted on opponents over the years.
Well yeah, I have no beef with him outside of the realm of basketball. Why would I? Seems like a nice enough guy to me.
I like Shaq as a person, but I hate what he's done to basketball. I mean, you've gotta respect his shear power and everything, but the brand of basketball that Shaq played during his peak just wasn't very fun to watch. Now that he's slowed down, and he has to use a bit more skill to score, I have more respect for him. Too bad he still can't hit a free-throw.
This is how I can hate Shaq: "We would love to have Gary down here," O'Neal said. "Gary is [37] years old, but he is still tenacious on defense. I know he still wants [a championship], ."and I am the only guy in the world that can give him one." - South Florida Sun-Sentinel Is that why you didn't even make the Finals last year? I suppose Tim Duncan couldn't get Payton a championship.
Like people have said before, I don't like Shaq's game. I think he gets away with fouls that no other player does. But, you can't not like the Shaq you see off the court. Gotta love someone that's give back so much to so many communities.
Man, you would love it if Yao said. What's wrong with being supremely confident? If I was Shaq, I would flaunt it even more. He's got the personality of Mohammed Ali and the heart of Mother Teresa. I love it
Don't ever put Shaq, Ali, and Mother Teresa in the same sentence. BTW, I dislike ("hate" is too strong) Ali and a host of other sports celebs for the same reason: arrogance. And no, I wouldn't love it if Yao said the same thing. I would respect him less if he did.
Ali and Shaq were nominated for top 5 most popular American born players in American sports history. If you don't like them, it could be your problem. Everybody else likes them. You say he's arrogant, I say he's confident. Don't hate, congratulate
What Shaq is doing is a great thing. I respect it and my hat's off to him. That being said, some of you guys are going overboard. For instance, Jordan and Shaq may be two of the most talented players to ever play the game, but I never found either of them to be particularly charismatic. I find it odd that Shaq would be described as such. Also, I've never considered him to be funny. I've seen him goof around and make jokes, and they're generally pretty juvenile and seldom clever. Also, he has one of the biggest egos I've ever seen. That said, I do agree that at heart he's a good person, and again, I commend him on his efforts for the hurricane victims. But yeah, I never really liked him either. He earned points with me for this though.
I'm not buying that. If Yao said something like that, the quote would be plastered on every sig on this site, save for N4 and RocketManTex.
shaq has a great heart and has always done great things for those who don't have much. however, i still can't stand him as a player. most overrated player of all-time. but still a good guy.
