Roy and Aldridge are two of my favorite non-Rocket players and I respect them a lot so can't really hate on them unless they pull some cheap tricks in this series. I hate every other Western Conference playoff team much more than the Blazers and didn't really want to face them in the 1st round.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—It will be up to Houston’s physical tandem of Ron Artest and Shane Battier to stop Brandon Roy, Portland’s top scorer and team leader heading into the upstart Trail Blazers’ first playoff appearance since the 2002-03 season. Bring them on, Roy says. “I think that just like they’re getting excited about shutting me down, I’m getting excited about not letting them to,” he said.
Now this could get me going...young pup not taking Batman's D seriously... But...he has to remain competitive and true to his team.
I hate any team that Stands In the Rockets way of a Championship! Besides after this first game you'll hate the Blazers. When you see how cocky and annoying their team is.
Roy and his last-second, game-winning shots comes to mind...and Przybilla with the flopping. Definitely a couple reasons... Still won't ever equal the 'hatred' for other teams in the west, in fact, I feel the need to rank the hatred: 1) Utah 2) Dallas 3) San Antonio 4) Lakers 5) New Orleans Just not feeling the true hatred for Portland yet (unless they win game #1), and I don't feel it for Denver. Anybody else care to 'rank the hatred'?
I don't feel it either. All those teams beat us in the playoffs. I'm sure if Portland wins this, we'll hate them the same. They don't have any real dirty players. No Karl Malone. No Flopping AK47.
You'll feel the hate once the Blazers start playing Yao dirty! That Pryzbilla can get under ones skin. During the series is when the hate is suppose to be develop.
Agreed, I don't think we have a recent/deep history with Portland, so the hate isn't there like it is with a Utah or a Dallas, but I think you're right, it'll come during the series. Unless...they get swept easily, then I think there won't be any hate...
1) Utah 2) Dallas 3)San Antonio 4) LA 5) New Orleans 6)Denver Denver's a little lower since they haven't done anything to the Rockets but I'm certainly not a fan of the thuggish players they have on their team (Melo, Nene, Birdman, JR Smith, Kmart, etc). I respect Portland a lot as a team (besides Pryzbilla) and wished we didn't have to face them in the 1st round but bring em on!
The Blazers are my second-favorite team. I posted a thread about that in GARM (bad idea ) around December I think, back when Tracy was playing and when the Rockets were an unpleasant team to watch. (I got seriously flamed and nothing but 1 star ratings ). Portland is beautiful city. Clyde The Glide played most of his career there. Rick Adelman coached there. Their colors are similar to the Rockets. Brandon Roy should be a Houston Rocket. (Thanks JVG). They're young and fun to watch. By all means, I want the Rockets to win. Hell, I want the Rockets to sweep them. I may not "hate" the Blazers, but I do hate how all the "experts" think Portland is going to win this series. I also believe that the Rockets team, as individual players, hate the Mavericks and Jazz. This hatred may have caused them to lose their concentration, hence why they lost those three times. Sure, its fun for us fans to hate our opponents, but I think it's more important that our team is comfortable and focused against their opponent. After all, hate succumbs to more hatred from losing. No hate + advancement into second round? I'll take that any day.
They gave us Clyde for Otis Thorpe, the same Clyde that helped the Rockets to win back-to-backs. Clyde was worth much more then Otis (not hating, I liked Otis) and I really doubt it that the Rockets would have been able to win that year without Clyde. And I like Portland to be honest, there are a few teams in NBA I like to watch and cheer for sometimes and Portland is one of them. PS. If we looooose I'll hate them just as much as I hate having a 2-inch ****!

Oh yeah...that helps...but not enough, still not feeling it. Good try, though! I think some other people made good points, that's just solid basketball there. Not really a dirty team.
I can't hate the blazers. They are pathetic. They are like baby seals (being clubbed to death by rockets)
I don't hate the Blazers -- I feel sorry for them! All these idiot reporters and commentators picking them to beat the Rockets... seriously, WTF were they thinking? Even before the 1st-game blowout, I couldn't see the Rockets losing more than 2 games to these youngsters.
