I do not care about Taylor Swift dating adventures

On God, I thought she was a p*rn chick when I first saw her.

 

I sometimes wonder if it's the cynical Gen-X-er in me telling me to think everything is stupid. Then again, there were no shortage of things that I thought were too mainstream/stupid/fake/commercial/derivative when I was a teenager, so maybe it's just me.

 

Swift has a great story of how she rose to prominence... including moving to Nashville at a very young age, learning to play the guitar (uncommon for young girls) and really hustling to refine her craft and make a name for herself. She has taken on a lot of risk in her career... and definitely has been an innovator at all points along the way. Making the crossover from country to pop... and writing her songs. She is also a world class entertainer and can fully command an entire stadium with her presence and performance -- a rare talent. She is the top female performer of our lifetimes.

She has The_Conquistador's support.

 

I really do not understand the Taylor Swift thing.

She's not nearly pretty or talented enough to warrant the level of attention she receives.

 

Rich people pay for publicity. She is from wealth.

 

Street cred still intact.

 

She is legit. She isn't going anywhere.

Most of her fan base is under 40 - so even when she stops constantly charting, she will be brought up and viewed as relevant.

Basically - she is here for the rest of your mortal coil, so get used to it.

She is like 32 years old - she will be around a lot longer.

I read somewhere that she is extremely popular in China too.

She passed U2 for total albums sold all time and conservatively she is ticketed for top 3-5 status all time.

I don't get the global phenom of Taylor Swift, just looks like the girls I raw dogged in high school after taking them to Birraporetti's on a Friday night.

 

Her father's money 100% got her into the industry, no doubt about that, but he isn't a billionaire. That doesn't really have anything to do with her current success because plenty of people are rich and have media teams trying to push their popularity.

She has a scary level of popularity no money can buy, and it's done nothing but grow organically for years.

 

Stay low-key, king.

 

She certainly grew up far better than most, and she had all her needs and more met - but she didn't grow up as a billionaire like she is now.

No, her popularity isn't because her parents paid for publicity - that doesn't explain her being a huge start for 20 years and the best selling artist of the 21st century. She resonates with some.

She's got a lousy concert movie about to come out. Just a mediocre movie thrown together to make some money. That movie is probably gonna make hundreds of millions and be one of the highest grossing movies of the year.

She's gonna produce a major studio blockbuster as a complete afterthought. Like most guys I don't understand it, but she's f**king huge, like all time famous musician huge, not simply successful pop star big.
