Stop right there. It isn't the difference in offenses; it is the difference in power forwards. What made their 2-man game so effective is defenses couldn't stop the 2 man game. Illegal defense rules played a larger role in limiting no help defense than their scrub weakside did. Plus, to this day, I still say the "Utah weakside picks" are a myth. It was often simple, well-timed cuts after a man left to go stop Stockton from shooting a 12'ftr. Regardless, few systems can help Stockton use the weakside so efficiently, if he can't dribble into the middle, first.

Make no mistake, the reason you can't compare our attempt at the 2-man game with weakside options is because you can't compare Thomas to Malone. It was the attention paid to Malone, not the weakside, that allowed Stockton to get into the middle of the court at will. Francis does not have that luxury. When you are trapped, it is hard to get to the middle to even use the weakside. You can, but there's nothing like having simple scores due to getting around the corner or having a PF score so efficiently.

The two offenses are fundamentally the same. Both are built on 2-man games that get the center out of the way. One (us) cannot get the PG around the corner into the middle consistently, the other had two hall of famers who could.

Smeg and myself are veteran coaches, maybe we should take over.

Smeg would be my assistant, of course!:p :D

WARNING: Sexist statement made entirely tongue in cheek ahead!

I'd have to be the head coach, Smeg, and you be the assistant because I coach boy's teams and you coach girls. This isn't the WNBA we're talking about. :p

You guys are funny, it's easy to do nothing, which many of you are suggesting in your post.

Someone please articulate how Rudy has improved as a coach. He's a player's coach, BS, his players are laying down on him. I could lose 10 or 11 in a row. He has injuries, correct, he also has the same strategy no matter the team. We go under picks against good and bad shooting teams.

He has not motivated one player to perform better, he has not changed the offense or defense to stop anyone. The scores of the blowouts speak for themselves.

The Rockets do not have enough scoring options on the floor and those options do not provide enough defense to stop an AAU squad.

The points made are valid, we will get killed tonight by Cleveland, by doing the same thing you've always done you will get the same results, a BIG FAT L!!!! to go with the other 10 or 11 in a row.

So you think you can get this ragtag, banged up team to the playoffs man532? Good luck! I'd like to be coach for a day just to cash Rudy's check.

Prove it. Show me where a player quit in a game. Show me where someone has suggested that Rudy has lost his team. Explain to me why there are dozens of players scattered throughout the league who owe their very careers to Rudy T.

So, you are admitting that they don't have enough talent to score or defend. How exactly is that the fault of the coach.

Your points are speculative at best. Your opinion is valid but that doesn't make it educated. Your emotion is obvious. Your rationale is questionable.

Come on Jeff- Are you saying that the Rockets were motivated when they lost to Chicago by 28 points? Or to Memphis by 18? Or to the Stackhouse-less Detroit Pistons by 28? The Rockets couldn't have cared less.

Still, I won't blame Rudy for that. It's not his fault that the Rockets are basically a prideless group of people forced to play basketball together.

I don't buy the arguement either this group is motivated. The ony players I feel "bring it" every night is Kenny Thomas, and maybe this new kid Brown.

But I do blame Rudy for letting these guys play a combination of freelance basketball and the few offensive plays results in a player taking a 25 foot shot.

Also Rudys substitutions, and the timing of them are ****.

Definition of "Players coach": One that does little to no coaching, and simply allows players to freelance at will since coaches only offense schemes requires a big man that can carry team on his back to several World Titles.

Another part of it is that Stockton is the best passer of all-time. He will make you pay if you leave a guy open to cheat on the P&R.

I think there are several reasons for the success of Utah's P&R, but I would definitely say that movement away from the ball sure helped.

    Jeff,

Are you related to Rudy or just kissing his butt for free. Get off his jock, I don't remember him sharing a check with you.

For the valid reasons, Cato has not laid down, Walt Williams, Moochie Norris, I wonder why we're on a 11 game losing streak. We lost to Cleveland and Chicago by a large number.

The scoring options on the team are Torres, Mobley, Griffin, and possibly Walt. Teams have video and dvd and have figured out Cato, Willis, and KT's game, which is let them have the jump shot they're not consistent. I know Griffin's shooting percentages are down, however, get him game experience.

As NC state mentioned, the rocks are playing one-on-one ball all day long and suffer with long jumpers with ZERO offensive boards. ZERO HUSTLE.
