Maybe thats the point. Krause's job can't be on the surest of footings, maybe he's looking for something to point to and say, "Look what I did for the team, please don't fire me".

Plus, Stackhouse would bring a name that might have a positive effect on ticket sales.

    Am I missing somehting here????

Why would Detroit even consider trading away their team leader + top scorer + biggest drawcard + two time all star (Stackhouse) for...RON MERCER???????????

Not so sure. Mercer averaged 20ppg last season, but it was painfully obvious that he's uncomfortable being the main go-to guy. He could switch to SF and stand back and wait for the ball to come to him off of Stack and Brand being double teamed and do the same w/o the pressure he feels now.

It's moot. The Pistons would want some scoring help and Mercer would almost certainly have to go out if Crawford or Fizer didn't. I think Fizer, our 4 this season and our pick next season would be enough. Fizer can score in this league...and that would be like Detroit getting 3 first rounders for Stack...two lottery picks and another next season almost certain to be one.

Something interesting that was pointed out to me about Cato which will make him a whole lot easier to move this offseason. According to Coon's FAQ, Cato's BYC will be gone once the Rockets fall below the cap this offseason. This basically means that if they choose to deal him for Croshere and Indy wants to do it, they can. Here's the quote from the FAQ:

"A player's BYC goes away if the team falls below the salary cap, the player signs with a different team, or the player is traded.

    BYC is not used when:

The team is under the salary cap before completing the trade, and will end up no more than $100,000 over the salary cap after completing the trade.

The team is under the salary cap before completing the trade, and the actual salaries of the players it is obtaining are no more than 15% plus $100,000 greater than the actual salaries of the players it is trading (unless the players being traded were acquired via trade within the previous two months)."
